A lack of floor leadership has been exceptionally noticeable over Pope’s two teams in Lexington, Butler was the closest we had and had he been healthy all year, he would’ve been that guy. There are far too many players taking ill advised shots, particularly deep threes in transition with no one in position to rebound. There are very few guys willing to drive to the paint aggressively, Pope’s talking about 35 three attempts per game, I don’t see that, had we pressed them more frequently and worked the ball inside consistently, believe we would’ve won. Pope needs to break it off in Oweh’s ***, sooner than later, he’s going to play overseas, not in the NBA, he’ll have a great life after UK, though right now he needs to be playing for the jersey he’s wearing not trying to appease NBA scouts. The jury is still out on Lowe, though early on he’s weak physically and can’t lock down opposing guards, he was abused all night, essentially bullied.

Last season I agreed with Pope about the 35 3's but not sure that fits with this roster.

Garrison plays 23 min, 3 points ditto game over
He was manhandled, the game was way too physical and fast for him to keep up, MM is tremendously better, already. BG is the most overpaid player on the roster for what Pope is getting in return. He has a horrible habit of slinging the ball up in the paint with zero chance of it going in, one bump from a defensive player and he loses his ****, he also holds onto the ball way too long enabling defenses to get into better positioning.

I swear, a lot of folks on here must have never played sports. Losing a game = no leader, change the gameplan, ditch kids...really?

1000% agree on MM. He already is so much better than BG.

Too early to say, though he’s way too passive, IMO.
I agree with this. I was all in on Nate Oats but am happy with Pope so far. He definitely needs to get a mean streak in him though. It's almost like he doesn't instill enough motivation/anger/hate in his players for certain games. Recruiting is still a mystery with him though as well as line ups.

As a freshman, he didn’t do anything different than Lowe as this so-called leader. He is a very good basketball player sure.
He didn’t miss the front end of a one and one, shoot from 37ft out on a fast break which led to an immediate score on the other end, he wasn’t so weak when he drove the lane he got bounced around like in was in washing machine. He also wasn’t completely dominated physically all night long, you couldn’t dissect JL and find a muscle.

Develop DA in this role

He is best player in this roster without doubt
Looks like a national champion. Plays like he gives a ****. Everybody else is just cool and easy going just no fire even down twenty.

We managed to get the score close last night but it wasn’t because we went all out. Take DA off last nights game and look how ugly it would have been.

The OP starts sarcastic threads or threads where the boat is sinking and everyone is going to die. He thinks it's humor.

mattwr fact take DA off last nights game and look how ugly it would of been.
I always thought it was a little lucky for us to have miracle run

I believe Kam, Chandler, Aberdeen all made some three consecutively, but what if we miss some, this would be 20+pts loss...

DA should be PG1, he is most all-around player on the roster, can shoot, can drive, and best defender in our backcourt. Lowe should be benched as sparker to change the pace for game

DA showed why he was winner, same with Butler.

Expect him to have breakout season and potentially be nba second round draft pick

To my view, this year's Louisville team plays like Pope wanted last year's team to play. It is unclear to me, right now, how Pope wants this team to play. We seem to be in search of an identity. Slower, more deliberate, play might be the answer.

Do we want Aberdeen to take 20 shots a game ... yes, or no ??

You clearly have an agenda. It was one game man. All of those are basketball-related anyway. Lowe seemed to be very vocal and was playing hard and trying to win.

Brown wasnt all that vocal that I saw. He didn’t look like he was even playing hard. He reminded me of Maxey. Kelsey has surrounded him with veterans though which is really smart.

Not an agenda, just the hard truth, Pope missed out on at least 5-6 other PG-combo guards, JL wasn’t high on the priority list though ultimately he was the best option available, he lost out on everyone else.

Because we do not have a pg like Brown

Our offense will be different with an explosive guard

Aberdeen is a ******* good complementary guard though, he could be Martin/Richard type player, but we need our Clayton, and Oweh is not THAT GUY

That may be true. I think it’s more like he got Lowe and Aberdeen rather than Donovan Dent or Wilkerson or Agbim. Lowe entered the portal later than those guys too

Pope is not the guy.
Pope is just so damn likable, it’s hard to even consider this, but there are some things that are trending in that direction!

For starters, if he indeed has a $22 million roster, and I personally don’t believe that for a second, although Pope has never publicly refuted it, so we have to take it at face value, he should be admonished by the people who funded it!

My unapologetic personal opinion… Pope would be better served coaching the women’s game, and not grown men who need a tougher role model.

DA looked pretty good. Lord some of you act like we played a home game against Louisville and Louisville is trash this year. We actually shot the three better than Louisville.

Yes I want him to take all the shots he can get. He’s the only one I feel like for sure will hit a wide open lay up and I’m not being sarcastic at all.

he’s quick and intentional with his movements. You can tell he’s playing to win. I seen way to many times last night people mainly Oweh playing that dumb *** hero ball.

No argument here. We stood around and got our *** kicked.
