No matter the coach, it will take players to get our team turned around...

South Carolina = Greater program than MSU. And two national championship coaches haven't been able to get that program over the hump. We will need a dynamic coach and recruiter just to get us to a 6 - 7 win season on a twice every 3 to 4 year basis. We could hire Mike Leach and we are not going to burn up the scoreboard with our athletes, no matter what offense we run. However, a dynamic proven coach that can recruit can help us get the athletes needed to win 6 - 7 games with a 8-9 win season thown in every 6 years or so.

The way I see it, we won 4 games with morons, so a decent coach should be able to take us to at least six next year.

The biggest two problems that I see are our o-line and receivers.

...and both colleges have had moderate at best success-- both going to 12 bowl games (well, the Chickens will make it 13 this year) and winning one conference championship (MSU, SEC in 1941 and USC's 1969 ACC title).

A good coach will
1) not put up with a punter who punts three punts less than 30 yards only to have the fourth go 70. His *** will be on the bench to be replaced by the guy who kicks the ball 40 - 45 yards consistently with good hang time.
2) find a kicker who can get elevation on the ball for a 30 yard field goal
3) have an offense he likes to run but will make adjustments to his teams abilities
4) Try to drive to score on LSU in Baton Rouge with 3 TO's and 1 minute left on the clock with the ball at midfield
5) keep the opposing coach guessing at all times.
6) hire a competent offensive, defensive, special teams corridantor
7) make a big deal out of the Spring football game instead of going into it like we shouldn't do it.

Others? i know they are out there

Yes, it will take the players to turn around the program, but we first need to find a way to utilize the talent we have and i hope the next guy can do that

WR is looking especially bleak right now. We can only pray that McRae rebounds fully. If he does, then we have starters at least. Surely the new coach will figure out how to better use D. Robinson. Arceto may turn out to be a player too. Those 3 would get us by.

This summer it was looking like we would bring in a quick answer to this problem with Bumphis and Patterson. I am still holding out hopes for Patterson. If we can get a good coach in here, get Skinner excited, maybe that will rub off on Patterson. I am not saying he is Julio Jones or AJ Green (or even DeAndre Brown) but you can see the kind of impact a freshman receiver can make in the SEC.

One thing that should get folks really excited about the prospects of hiring Kevin Wilson is what he did with Sam in his freshman season. They led the nation in passing efficiency. Is Tyler Russell that good (with our luck - he will only be that good if he goes to Bama)? Who knows, but even if he is half of what Bradford is you would think Wilson could do something with him. The other great thing about Wilson is that his emphasis is on the OL. Lord knows we need that.

I completely agree that O-Line and WR are going to be tough next year, followed closely by D-Line and Safety.
