No mention of Rory McIlroy bitching out today?

Actually, I don't think he finished 9 holes. I think he'd hit his second shot on 18 (his 9th) in the water and then walked off. He was heading for a 45 or 46 on his front 9 ... which is a terrible score for a pro. I'm thinking he might be having girlfriend trouble. And switching from Titleist to Nike clubs isn't helping matters. He'll probably snap out of all this once he grows up a bit.

I think the equipment change excuse is overrated. Pros change equipment all the time. Even those that stay with the same company constantly upgrade or swap prototypes. His swing seems to be out of sync compared to last year. I think it just goes back to him only playing just a handful of rounds of competitive golf in recent months.

I'm obviously nowhere close to a pga pro, but I can play a little bit. If your mind is elsewhere you have no chance. In the past I've teed it up for 50 dollar a hole, 50 dollar birdies thinking golf would get my mind off **** I had going on. Needless to say I donated some cash those days. Not the same as the tour, but point is if your not where you need to be mentally you can forget it...

Quitting because you're hurt is the only time a PGA pro should walk off a course before the round is up. Rory pulled a spoiled brat move today. This is the same guy that overslept his noon tee time in the Ryder Cup and had to get a police escort in order to get there in time. He just barely made it and had no time for warmup. Blamed it on watching TV and said he didn't realize there was a time change. He'd been there for more than a day.

Equipment changes don't take very long getting used to. Changing the ball does when you are a player of his caliber. Don't buy the tooth excuse and Rory is a bit of a puss but it looks like he is having a hard time with his transition from Titty to Nike.

It's not the equipment or the ball. We might have the next David Duval here. Duval was ranked #1 and then just lost it mentally. He never got anywhere close to that #1 again once he lost it.

So this clown walks off with a toothache, and some female golfer a couple of weeks ago gets bit by a black widow and finishes her round?

Got to be the girlfriend. She's hot and he is still young. Hot snatch can mess with your head.

i think it could seriously screw up your game but i agre with 61, unless you are physicallly unable to play a tour pro just grind it out, miss the cut and go to the dentist on saturday. short of something at means they can't walk or swing i'd say suck it up.

Perhaps he's dealing with depression or anxiety. I would much rather blame being in a poor mental condition on a tooth ache when dealing with the media than try to give an explanation. This is conjecture on my part, but these are chemically based ailments that, at a certain point, cannot be "sucked up" and played through. He might have bitched out because he was having a poor round, but that poor round could have been exacerbating a situation in his mind that goes further than golf.
