No Power K please

Sure it's nostalgic, but its nostalgic for getting beat to death every year. How many good memories do we have celebrating with that K on the helmet?

We possibly have a great coach and theres a possibility we might be making historic runs in the years coming up, this would be a great time NOT to drag up basic boring letters that represent the states team. How about a new one, even the old school wildcat.

The old wildcat looks 10 times better than the K.

Maybe im just shell shocked from getting annihilated every season seeing that on the helmet. Regardless, it sucks. The 1980's called and said put it to bed.

Having the state on the helmet would be great. Even a plain chrome helmet looks fantastic. Anything but a plain K like it's 1984.

UK and UH being so incredibly close is the most disappointing thing about that UK logo. It's literally the same exact logo as the University of Houston except the direction of one line in the letter. That's the only problem I have with the current Nike UK logo, it's just not unique. At least with the Power K it's actually uniquely Kentucky. There's no confusing it. When you see that K on the helmet you know it's Kentucky. It's cleaner. Just like when you see the T on Tennessee it's uniquely Tennessee. I think when that helmet hits the field on Saturday against LSU even those that don't long for it out of nostalgia will simply say "yeah that just looks better. It's more Kentucky". Just my 10 cents.

We were dead last or close to it vast majority of the years of the power K.

Didn't we lose a lot with the old Wildcat logo too? Yet you like that one, kind of defeats your purpose. I hate the current Wildcat logo and won't wear anything with it on it but the Power K doesn't bother me that much.

I hope Stein has good contacts at Nike and maybe get us more throwback and custom jerseys. Whatever helps in recruiting is a no brainer to me.

76-77 we were really good with the power K, we had some other good teams during the power K run too. We’ve had bad runs with all of the helmets, none of them represent bad luck. To each his own, Stein likes it so that means it might be around awhile.

We were 101-144-5 with the Power K and 163-191 with the interlocking logo. When we were only playing six conference games a majority of our five OOC games were against teams that are now P4. So point being, the numbers are skewed since we started scheduling cupcakes with the interlocking logo. Not that any of it matters in the end.

I don’t care about power Ks or interlocking letters or even birds getting nasty (penis tongue was a concern). I certainly do not get superstitious about such things. If the players like it and it doesn’t look like a penis, go for it and just win.

I'm gonna take the heat of you brother. Not only do I not care about the power K, I think our helmet should always feature the new logo. You know, the one that everyone hates. The new modern one. I think it's the best logo we've ever had, no joke. Yall people just have nostalgic hearts, move on. One of our logos had a cat with a dick in its mouth and some of you people still long for that one.

let it go.

Give me the Power K all the time. It’s clean, it stands out as KY and is 100% our brand. We stole the humping birds from KSU for some stupid reason and now share an identity. Bama has a plain red helmet with numbers. No logo at all. We went away from being who we are, regardless of record. The power K is KY football and we need to get back to it.

Didn't Mitch put together a committee that gave us the humping birds logo? If I recall correctly, that cost $80k.

I did not recall correctly. That was to replace the traditional logo featuring Memorial Hall to the interlocking UK logo that already existed, university-wide.

Louis, the Power K is the Chuck Norris of Kentucky Football Logos. It's all Kentucky, all the time.

It hearkens back to the days when the sun would indeed shine bright on our old Kentucky Home - to the days of yore when men were men and they were going to by god hold that ball and hit that line and every wildcat star did indeed shine and there was nothing anyone could do about it. To the days when Happy Chandler sang about it and when Cawood Ledford did indeed call the 'Cats to the left of your radio dial.

In short, Louis - the Power K is a harbinger of future glory - where the old world meets with a new world in which every knee must bend to the glorious POWER K.
