Physicians Checked his knee out a few days ago and said he was about 90% and should be good to go when practice starts. His progress has been a lot better than expected. Cincinnati did not think he would be ready this year and that's what left the door open for us. Rick thinks he will give Jarvis a good workout and will make him even better. Not looking to redshirt.

several days ago. From what was told to me Stans is really excited about him being further along than what has been reported.

so if the pre-injury draft reports are correct, our backup center is projected to be a higher pick than the starting center that is the two time SEC defensive player of the year. Nice problem to have.

If true, then bye bye Elgin.

I would hpe not. We need role players as well as starters. He can provide good minutes off the bench.

• Finally, I was in the IMG gym Friday and bumped into living legend John Riek. Riek, you may remember, is the big 7-foot-2 big man from the Sudan whom scouts went crazy over two summers at LeBron James' summer camp. Since then, Riek's brief moment of fame has devolved into disaster. He went to a prep school and didn't improve. Then he was injured but declared for the draft anyway. Then he signed with Cincinnati but never played. The last year he's been hanging around IMG, working on his game and rehabbing from knee surgery.

Riek is still limping but is improving and has signed with Mississippi State. He's expecting to play next season alongside Varnado and another top recruit, Renardo Sidney. It will be interesting to see what becomes of him. If he can ever get healthy, he still has the potential to be great.

Chad Ford is sayin he has a limp. Obviously Ford isnt a doctor, but to me, a visible limp by a casual observer doesnt = 90% healed.
Just tossing out more info on him.

I guess if a person has a serious knee injury recovery has a mental factor to it. Who the heck knows !
