By 4 p.m., traffic on Earhart Expressway coming into the city was backed up all the way to Clearview Parkway. Airline Highway was similarly jammed coming into town. And motorists were reporting similar gridlock up Canal Street out past Carrollton Avenue. At the Orleans Parish line, Interstate 10

In Algiers, the ferry terminal is overflowing, with lines snaking out of the terminal building to the levee. "It's worse than Disney World," one woman muttered.

WHO DAT !!!!!!!!

at least 800,000 people but probably more like 1 million people attended the parade. It was freaking freezing but I had a blast. Just and awesome experience.

870 also reported that many parking garages were so backed up that people were stuck for 3 hours or more without moving at all.

It was packed--12+ people deep at St. Charles so we headed down to the Convention Center where it got to be 10 people deep there. The parade started at 5 but didn't make it to us until around 7:45-8 pm and did not end until 9:30 for us. Reggie Bush's float had a really hard time making it down the streets because people would erupt into the street in front of it and prevent forward progress for long periods of time.

Best parts were Hartley popping up out of the Krewe of Muses stiletto like a beaded Jesus and Sean Payton slinging the Lombardi trophy around like...well, you can guess. Second best parts were every high school band in the parade playing Stand Up and Get Crunk, and the spontaneous eruptions of sidewalk "Who" vs. neutral ground "Dat." Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

And that's the story from Drew Orleans, LaBreesiana (thanks crazy t-shirt dude on the other side of the street).

I got back from Ft. Lauderdale about 6:00pm Monday and left about 11:00am Yesterday to get down there. Wewatched it at Rampart and Howard and parked about 5 blocks south on the intersection of MLK and Oretha C Haley. We were upstream on the routeand got back to Jackson just before midnight. No problem getting out after rolling through the neighborhood to Claiborn and hitting I-10 West.

When the Orpheus Float game by with the coaches on it, that was great. Payton on top of the train a long neck in his left hand and pumping the Lombardi with his right.

I read somewhere this morning thatafter the parade, Brees was in Lucy's. He was behind the bar with a mic leading the crowd inTHE pregame chant. I haven't been at work since Thursday. I should have taken another day off and stayed down there last night.
