THIS GUY
In the suit, William Matthew Brasher alleges that Brent Vowell knocked
him unconscious with the bell, causing a four-inch laceration that
required staples and resulted in “a concussion, memory loss, mental and
emotional distress and anguish, depression, paranoia, anxiety, loss of
enjoyment of life and inability to pursue prior educational and
professional goals,” according to the complaint.
Seriously, who here has not had to get stitches or staples before? Did it ruin your life and cause "memory loss, mental and
emotional distress and anguish, depression, paranoia, anxiety, loss of
enjoyment of life and inability to pursue prior educational and
professional goals?"

I know some of you will disagree with me, but this guy should be disassociated along with Kenny Rogers.

getting hit in the head with a metal object will cause all those things. Happened to someone I know, tookhim quite a whileto recover. He sued and won, as he should have.

Sue the **** out of the guy who hit you, but to sue the SEC and MSU is ridiculous. Yes I know that MSU is not named yet, but there is no way that MSU should pay his claim.

if you got hit in the head by a guy with very little assets?Your lawyer wouldsue the place where it happened. He would tell you what he thought he could get. If you had a pileof bills and no money, you'd agree to it. Of that, I have no doubt.

You're in my stadium, i disregard a rule that directly results in a physicalinjury to you... I am liable. I hate it as much as the next guy but if you remove the maroon glasses, the candidate for the dddy is the attacker not the attacked.

The SEC should not be named. The SEC has no contract with fans to enforce its own rules.

I say the SEC is being named here just to bring visibility to the lawsuit. This is intended to pressure the defendant to settle.

See also that this civil suit is being filed about 1 month before the criminal trial is supposed to start. I think the timing here is constructed to pressure the defendant to settle.

And by defendant, I mean the perp. Not the SEC or Mike Slive. I figure the SEC and Slive will be dropped as soon as the perp settles.

I know nothing of this case. No idea about either party. That said, State should have quietly paid bills and whatever else and had the victim sign away the liability.

So you are saying that he should sue MSU and the SEC?
Did MSU or the SEC cause him to get in a fight? If someone gets shot, should the government be sued because the shooter was not supposed to have a gun? Suing the SEC and MSU is beyond ridiculous.

If you walked in with a cowbell last year, it was confiscated................... The attacker had to conceal the bell to get it in.

The claim against the university is covered under the mississppi tort claim act. There are an assload of exceptions to the general waiver of sovereign immunity. I'd defend with this one:

11-46-9 (1) A governmental entity and its employees acting within the course and scope of their employment or duties shall not be liable for any claim:

(b) Arising out of any act or omission of an employee of a governmental entity exercising ordinary care in reliance upon, or in the execution or performance of, or in the failure to execute or perform, a statute, ordinance or
regulation, whether or not the statute, ordinance or regulation be valid;

I was replying to Randy when he said we shouldnt pay the claim. All I am saying is that the guy is not a dubmass for suing. If we can get out of it with no problems- great. I would just be hesitant to nominate the victim for dddy- thats all.

I'm with DA...there are things you should sue for but this is pure crap

"mental and emotional distress and anguish, depression, paranoia, anxiety, loss of enjoyment of life and inability to pursue prior educational and professional goals"

If you need him to pay medical bills, fine....anything beyond that is just stupid to me.

the alleged incident occurred outside the stadium, so MSU and the SEC are in no way culpable. This is crap, pure and simple. Also, if the guy was really in such bad shape I think a lawsuit would've been filed well before now. Look at the timing on this and ask yourself what's really going on...

you are 17ing terrible.

If he is suing for his medical bills and a little lost time, that is different, but something tells me if that's all he was asking, MSU would have taken care of it plus some.
