It really is an impressive haul. Ratings below are MatScouts / Flo:

2027 (high school juniors)
J. Bachmann #3 / #3; currently at 138
Borge #5 / #11; currently at 132
P. Kenny #7 / #8; currently at 126

2028 (high school sophomores)
F. Bachmann #1 / ??; currently at 132
S. Kenny #40 / ??; currently at 113

Anyone know what weights these guys project at in college?
This is great for Iowa wrestling but they have to retain them. They cannot have another flip.... a Flip for them could be catastrophic right now!

Paul Kenny said he'll likely go 133. J Bachmann said 149/157, then said something about 165.

How did I know Corby would laugh at this post? Lol

Guys, I know alot of talk about him being a Hawkeye fan but take it from me, he's not. He's actually just a "Paid Iowa Lover"...we work under the same umbrella, different department with different purposes and goals. Sorry, but needed to clear that up.

Oh and @Corby2 , look forward to seeing you at the company Christmas party in a few weeks. Always a pleasure..... :)

Does Bob or Tom do your evaluation?

Non would crack PSU starting lineup unless they can be 149 in a yr or so. That’s if cael doesnt get another elite recruit for that weight. They wouldn’t crack okie state lineup either IMO. They may have AA possibilities depending on development and how the weights pan out.
This is impossible to say. F. Bachmann is a 2028 HS recruit, a sophomore in HS right now. By the time he gets to college, who knows what either lineup will look like. With a RS year, you're talking about what the PSU lineup will look like in the 29-30 year. Doubtful he'll ever beat out Blaze or Ono or Duke, but Ono will be gone and he could have 3 years of eligibility after Blaze graduates and 2 after Duke. Lilledahl will be gone, SVN will be gone. Sidun will be somewhere in the lineup, but probably smaller than Bachmann.

The five guys that Iowa just landed are currently juniors and sophomores in high school. So, yeah, none would crack the PSU lineup in the next couple years. However, beyond that, PSU could have openings at 141 and 149 (assuming Blaze stays at 133). And at some point Blaze (a 2025 recruit) will need to be replaced. Way too early to say that none of the Iowa recruits could ever crack the PSU lineup.

Interesting, I thought he was on our short list. It seems we have zero "hammers" HWTs in the longer term recruiting target pipeline that I have heard. Dice's sheet is our Bible but it's hard to know if every junior and below there is really on Cael's list.

I get a lot of scorn re: my Marisola comments (both brothers for that matter). Sure they are both studs, there is zero doubt, but realistically, I will stand by both having low 6-8 AAish careers at best.

Cael does not seem to be satisfied with less than top 4 at any weight, and I am totally open to being just plain wrong, but heavy is one area where I would think our program would make a key target recruit's top 4 list. It's been crickets for a couple of classes now even with Kerk's heir apparent in the house.

Heck I am still hoping there is a 10% chance Ross flips. If Cole or Cochran end up being blood round guys, possible but unlikely, and there are no big names in the pipeline, what then? Portal?

No doubt heavy is the one weight where I think we are open to both some extra drama and maybe a surprise over the next 3 years.

These package deals are nice on announcement day, but if things go sideways for one of them, you potentially lose both and are left scrambling for replacements. Saw this happen with Bassett family and almost with the Ferraris as well.

Although he hasn’t been mentioned recently, Elijah Brown decommitted from Pitt then visited PSU for White Out game. Brown won a Fargo cadet freestyle title in 2024 and a PA AAA title at 215. He’s 6’4. Wrestles like a middleweight but has a frame on which he’ll be able to pack on muscle, ala Kerry McCoy. He’s a senior at Belle Vernon HS near Pittsburgh. He could be the future heavyweight. Trust the process, trust Cael.

Brown would be a nice addition.

I hope he goes HWT this year because he's the only PA AAA wrestler capable of giving Bechtold a real match. (Effendian might too, but he's AA. That's it in PA.)

I can maybe understand this view on Cole Mirasola. He's the less heralded of the two brothers and figures to be a pretty undersized heavy throughout his college career.

But Conner Mirasola having a ceiling of low (6th to 8th) AA over the next 4 years? What is that based on? Solely because he (as a true freshman) got smoked by Josh Barr in late 2024? The Josh Barr who had a redshirt year at PSU and got 2nd at NCAAs?

It looks like Belle Vernon will be at the Escape at the Rock tournament this year.

Yes, they will. He may see Bechtold, Mielnick, and Alvarez there if he’s at 285. Plus Beecher who’s ranked 11th.

215 is a little thinner but will have Cash Colbert who won the Beast last year, maybe Mielnick if he doesn’t go to 285.

I doubt the PSU coaches are concerned about anyone but their own recruits!they get who they need!

Tom posted an article in a different thread saying Brown is going 215 again this year.
