Ms. Geuder(sp?) who at once was the director of university relations (not sure if she still is) made the parking decal change from the M-State logo to the current "Mississippi State" "watermark" or letterhead.
When I was at State we had the walking bulldog on these decals that could be pink or purple in color - yes this was 2002, not 1982. After realizing that the decal is an advertisement for MSU that is on the back of several thousand cars - the university agreed to change to the larger Maroon decal that included an M-State and a small colored rectangle descriptive of the parking zone. This is when Meredith Guider finally decided to give a **** about the parking decal after years of obviously not giving a 17. She decided that the M-State is not proper on written forms - despite the fact that it is the most recognizable symbol of the University since it is on the football helmet, basketball court, etc. I still think she had some personal animosity toward the Student Association - probably because we had the same. So, she 17ed the decals - we had something good going for a while, but she screwed it up. Why would the M-State be on the Mississippi special order license plates if it is not proper in this situation? she clearly was wrong and I apologize for not calling her out.
Also, they have to put the union on the decal because Allen hall is terrible looking. If you take out the picture of the union and place an M-State - it would look better.
Anyone that doesn't like the M-State is entitled to their opinion, however it is tremendously recognizable and simple - it needs to be on the parking decals until another logo takes over as "THE" logo for Mississippi State-
You guys that think this doesn't matter are incorrect. Again, these decals are placed on several thousand cars and driven all over the country. This maybe the only thing that several million people ever see that involves Mississippi State, so it needs to be worth a dam. Attention to details such as this go a long way into building the "goodwill" of the university.
