Normally I like movies Ron Howard is involved with, but

They're going way off the rails from the books.
Oh...been a long time since I read the books...I haven't read or even watched the trailer enough to know how it mirrors (or doesn't) the books. I agree with Mule that this happens a lot (book not matching the movie).

Thats true of a lot of movies made from King novels or short stories. Running Man and Lawnmower Man come to mind immediately.

This is one series of books that is almost impossible to do as a movie. It would have possibly worked as an HBO show like the Game of Thrones. I consider it to be some of King's best work, and I worry they'll butcher it in the translation.

I read them back in college and always thought they would be good on the screen. I don't remember well what the story is about, but I do remember they were long books - so yes a HBO-GOT things might have been better. Is this one movie going to capture all of the books or are they setting it up for multiple movies?

They were talking about movies mixed with TV mini-series.

Unfortunately one of the first writers on the project was the same writer who brought us Batman & Robin.
