Something I haven't seen floated on here is the possibility of promoting Norries Wilson to head coach.

Seemed to do a decent job while Flood was out. Probably was not his own man since Flood was coaching during the week. Flood seemed to have a plan for every eventuality. (i.e. Lav gets hurt: send Lav back in there!)

He has been a head coach and knows our program and recruits. Probably cheap enough for our budget.

We could do a lot worse for the next couple years.

No, no, no. If this is the plan we might as well keep Flood and save the buyout money. While he was entertaining in interviews as the interim head coach, elevating Wilson because he knows the program and recruits sounds eerily like how Flood got the job, doesn't it (head coaching experience years ago with Columbia notwithstanding)?

I might be able to come up with a plan I like worse if I thought about it for a while, but it would be difficult. I'm sure he would be cheap enough for our budget because we would be his only FBS offer.

you'd be better off hiring the best possible team of NJ High School coaches and putting them at the different spots on the staff.

This current Thanksgiving day NYC HS football game of the week crew is not up to the level of P5 football by a mile.

Interesting thought. It leads me to a question: did you work in the Grunninger administration or have any involvement in the Rice vetting or Flood hire?

I would be ok with firing flood today and having Wilson finishing the season . Team wins out and they make a bowl Wilson coaches the bowl game. Maybe even offer him another job in the athletic department after if he's done coaching if the new coach doesn't want him on staff

Hell if you're going to go the "hey, he sucks but at least he's cheap" route, just offer the job to Jerry Dinardo from BTN. He has years of head coaching experience (albeit as a complete failure). But the gig at BTN can't pay more than $2-300,000. Offer him $750,000 and use the savings to fill the gaps in the budget due to an empty stadium.

Worst Post in 2015.
Wilson had 4 wins in 5 years as the Head Coach of Columbia. Yeah, he is FBS material. lol

I'm not really arguing with you. But it was goddamn Columbia, man.

I hear you ....but 4 wins in 55 games ? Come on' man.
A win over Dartmouth or out of conference Rhode Island is to much to ask for ?

Columbia went 4-34 in four years with an NFL quarterback. His senior year they started what became a 44-game losing streak that's STILL an NCAA record. It's probably the toughest job in the entire sport.

No bozo!!!

I want a real coach.

Um yeah so do I . That's why Flood should have been fired and let Wilson coach the last 3 on an interim basis . Get the ball rolling on the coaching search . Hen thank Wilson for his service and maybe get him a job at the rac

Wilson is no better than flood. You are just not as tired of him as you are of flood.

Flood will be gone at the end of the year. I agree that he should have been gone already, but this is Rutgers.

Also, for what's its worth, hearing the following possibilies:

Schiano
Golden
Davis
Herman
Fleck

It's a ludicrous idea but I wouldn't hold Columbia against him. Bob Shoop followed Norries at Columbia. He was 7-23 and could very well be a P5 HC soon.

When are you guys going to learn you don't have to fire your coach to start a coaching search? If you don't think we have reached out as well as, had people contact us, I don't know what to tell you.

Because he wants back in coaching.
I simply hadn't heard his name in any discussions I've had with people. I get he wants back in but with no ties to NJ, I simply don't see the allure for him. He could be a DC in the SEC make similar money and wait for a job that's a better fit. Don't get me wrong, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

He was 3-28 at Columbia, you can have him. That is our problem are assistant coaches are not up to par with the other assisstants at P5 schools.

No one cares about FB at Columbia. That's what years of losing does to a program. No fan base. No expectation.

Even Grunninger decided against hiring him over Shea. Now that says a lot lol.

If you going to go the promote the assistant route, what about Bob Faser?
2011: Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Line
2009-10: Co-Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers

Maybe the next best thing to Schiano II>>>Robb Smith >>>> Fraser.

We could make a movie What About Bob?

I wouldnt want him for next year. As an interim for the remainder of this year would be nice.
