Burton with a nice 1p TF. Had a couple nice TD straight into back points.
Dopps with the effort I was looking for. Immediate TD then went to work for the fall.
I watched McComas 1st match where he got a tech in just over 1 minute of wrestling.
Went to second period this time, but still had 3 TD and 2 NF4 for the tech. I also like how he worked straight for NF off each TD. Need more chain wrestling
In the finals at 157 is Gus Smith, a sophomore from Little Rock, AR and son of a 4X NCAA Champ.
I checked and did not see a Gus Smith or any Smith's on the Little Rock College roster. Must be high school. His genetics could be very good for wrestling.
Well Gus Smith got pinned in about 20 seconds in the finals.
Sorry to have been too vague and to leave you in limbo. He is a sophomore in HS. It was a good showing for a Sophomore (he should be proud and the following is not meant to be a criticism, just context) but he didn’t beat any college wrestlers of note. The kid he beat in the semis only qualified for the KS state tournament once. The kid he beat in the quarters was a 2x MO qualifier with 4th place best finish.
He wrestled Ayson Rice who is a freshman at Southeast Community College. He is a 4 time South Dakota State Champ. Good wrestler who an article said he was going to Appalachian State. I never heard of Southeast Community College but would guess it is a Junior College.
Rice trained at Legends of Gold with Terry Pack and Terry is now the coach at Southeast CC it's a new JUCO
