Another shutout for the ND defense, however, this is probably the most undisciplined football team in the state of North Carolina, and I have no doubt that it will eventually catch up to them. The penalties this team commits game after game after game is absolutely mind blowing. Blocks in the back 15 yards behind the play, holding penalties almost every time they run a sweep, too many personal fouls to count. It really is getting ridiculous and it doesn't seem to be getting any better, and it will eventually end the Black Knights season. They one loss they have on the season was because of stupid penalties. It truly is amazing to watch on Friday nights.

You’re right on the money with your post. This team is going to lose to Ledford and could easily lose to a Team like S. Granville or Eastern Randolph.

Ugly win is an ugly win. No competition til Ledford, unless Salisbury surprises us... This team cannot win a state or even conference title playing like that.

I know times have changed but we would be running hills until we puked back in the day. Folks make a big deal about Jimbo Fisher grabbing a kids facemask heck it happened at practice and games in the late 70's and 80's for sure. It is sad to see this continual penalty barrage. I can deal with holding or block in back moreso than late hits and unsportsmanlike conduct which have been all year.

This is what happens when mothers of America get involved for their babies. Dads too. Parents have too much say so nowadays.

It would be one thing if kids were being seriously abused or hazed. But you can't even tell a kid their effort is pitiful nowadays without having to deal with the sulking afterward. SMDH...

I’m not putting this on the players. Yes, they are less than disciplined. This is a coaching issue. There are assistants on North’s staff that say there is more screaming than coaching going on. That starts at the top. Coach your kids! If week nine doesn’t show improvement from week nine, there is only one person to blame.

I wouldn't say there hasn't been improvement. The passing and running game look much better. But you're right about the discipline. That shouldn't be an issue this late.

I wasn’t specific enough... I agree that overall there has been improvement. The only lack of improvement that I was referring to was in the amount of penalty yardage.

Fans and coaches hate penalties but consider this for a second....

U guys have been blowing out the scrubs you have been playing and as such, are surely getting your 2nd and 3rd team guys quite a few reps in the second half. They are usually 2nd and 3rd strong for one or many reasons which include talent, discipline, general football IQ. If they are seeing decent minutes, there will be penalties. It’s just reality. Andrews back in 2013 averaged 10 penalties for about 100 yards a game. They went on to win the 2AA title that year because once they played good teams, the starters played most of the minutes and penalties decreased but during the season they were beating teams by 40-40-60 points and 2nd half running clock games with back ups wasn’t exactly quality football at times.

This would be a good point, but it has actually been starters racking up yellow flags lol. One possession last year they got three consecutive unnecessary roughness calls against ledford in the first game. Only reason ledford even scored a TD that night lol.

I’ve been to most of the games, and there haven’t been too many non starters playing. I’ll recant that statement if someone says I’m wrong. The late hits on our sidelines have been by starters. Hard to see what’s on the other sideline.

When the clock is running, you’ve got to pull those kids out. Yes, the opposing team might score a trash TD, but if #20, #10, #99 or #1 goes down, it’s over.

or #13. It is mainly starters with penalties NO DOUBT!! BTW I'm hearing that Dalton and the really tall receiver will both be back this week!

Personally I wouldn't even wait for the running clock. The subs deserve to play in a real game situation in preparation for next year. Especially considering how many starters will be lost on defense. We should be sending in the subs after a 5 TD lead, not 6. Jmo.

Keep it up ND! Everyone is a hater.

Now all of you on here who are saying North won't do this or North won't do that, don't post on here in a month and talk about how proud you are of the CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP.... or the run they make in the playoffs.

Most issues I'm reading are about the Knights are concerning the excess number of penalties. I'm not seeing anyone complaining about scheme, player development talent. To say everyone is a hater seems a little butt hurt to me. Just saying

Lol. People are talking football. They're not throwing anyone under the bus. Some people are actually moderate and see both sides. Meaning they are not simply a hater, or on the other end of the spectrum someone who pumps rainbows up your butt.

Nobody is perfect, but there IS always room for improvement. Day by day, we get better and better...

Always room to improve... YES. Listening to people complain during half time that the offense looks sluggish, while up 28-0... SILLY (some of the same people posting on here)

One thing I have learned through the years, it’s easy to coach from the stands. It’s easy to run what if’s after the fact... (been on both sides)

The point is this... are there too many penalties. Yes. Do you not think the coaching staff realizes this and looks/brainstorms ways to cut down on these? Yes. To say it’s a complete reflection of coaching staff or that somehow they have lost their team because you have bone heads making penalties shows complete ignorance.

Will it cost them a game or a state title?? Well I guess you all will have to sit back and watch.

Just looking at the NFL, last year Seattle was the most penalized team and Carolina was the least penalized team.... neither of which won the Super Bowl for that matter.

So far this year. Kansas City is the most penalized team and NY Giants are the least penalized team.... which one would you put your life savings on right now??

Some of it is offensive scheme, some of it is the pace in which they play... some of it is just the crew they get for the night.

The average age of a high school officiating crew on a Friday night is around 60 years old. With the most educated of guesses, the game has evolved a little bit in 40 years... fair to say??

I read these threads from time to time and laugh to myself. The same guy saying ND will lose to Ledford because of penalties is the same guy who said to beat Thomasville they will have to throw the ball. ND rushed for 250+ yards against Thomasville.

Just my thoughts... but what do I know? I’m just an old washed up DC mayor.

The crew on Friday was probably over 60 average age and very out of shape. They made a couple of holding calls on us from many yards away!!

I wouldn't know about that. I was on the Thomasville side watching the game because our crowd is a bunch of wine and cheesers most of the time.

I will say that I watch every game from a coaches perspective, not a fan perspective. So I always see things to work on. I'm not going to despair over winning a game sloppily, but I will say it looks more and more each week that Davie had absolutely no business beating this team, and why did that happen?

Allen Brown was doing the same thing a few seats behind me. I'm certainly not Coach Brown, but any coach does that.

There are 2A schools in the playoffs who are AT LEAST as good as Davie and Tabor, as we found out last year. School enrollment aside, no team wins a title without discipline.

I will enjoy this season. But I certainly won't celebrate with fervor winning a 2A conference title over ledford. I'll be happy for the kids, but they have the talent to shoot for higher things. Because almost any team in North Davidson history the last 20 years could win this conference. Excepting the 2006 and 2007 teams lol.

What is allowed will persist and will eventually cost them big time in a tight game.

Bigtime_87 you act like these coaches are out there saying... go said player... get a 15yard late flag. I’m not sure who you are or how “connected” you are but I am sure, practice is open everyday of the week, M-Th and if I understand correctly. Every Sunday afternoon while most are home relaxing with their families, these guys are meeting to discuss week to week adjustments and reviewing the film.

But yes, a penalty could eventually catch up to them... as could a late INT. Or a missed tackle. Or a fumble. Or a number of other things. That is the beauty of this game...

I’ll leave this here... UCF was the 126th (out of 130 teams) most penalized team last year. You know how many games they lost last year??? ZERO. Not one.

UCF and Auburn both had 8 penalties, canceling each other out on that note. Auburn had three turnovers to UCF having 1. Auburn outyarded UCF, barely. Looks like the more disciplined team won the game.

I guess based on what has been said is why are starters still playing much in 2nd half running clock games up 40-50 points. That’s just ridiculous to risk injury to key players.

Wanna talk about bad fans? In 2006 we were playing South Rowan in that craphole called China Grove. One of our receivers dropped a touchdown pass and came back to the sidelines because it was fourth down and we turned it over.

Three men who were parents I knew personally attacked him with vulgarity about how sorry he was and to to catch the ball. Our WR looked up, gave em the bird and sat on the bench.

THAT was an ugly experience. You think North fans are annoying when we win? Try when they lose lmao. I was never more embarrassed for ND football than I was that night.

In 2010 an assistant was fussing at his player grouping(no issue with that) but he dropped numerous F bombs and GD's for all to hear!! That was the most embarrassing for me as a North fan.

I don't believe in cursing at players. I do believe that boys pay attention and respond to things involving food, choice words, and sex lol. That's how the Corps does it. But you can't be a drill instructor in this day and age, that's for sure.

If you're gonna motivate players that way, you have to keep it under control in a rational voice and not scream it for all to hear. That's playing a VERY dangerous game for political reasons. And coaching IS political at times.

No doubt the coaches are planning, working hard and doing a great job with that. Question is, if ND posters have for two years posted on here about the dumb stuff and penalties, then what is being done to correct that? Not downing anyone, I want all DC teams to be successful, but a team cannot win states against top teams with constant holding and 15 yard cheap shots. Overcoming a 15 yarder against a DC team with it 40-0 is alot different from overcoming a 15 yarder versus S Point, Hibriten or other teams that are top notch and disciplined.
