And I'm not sure that I have an answer for that other than I think it goes back to the QB not being able to get them the ball at times and the fullbacks for MC being typically pretty good. If you watched the MC/Clinton game earlier in the year, it was very similar to tonight except for the fact that when MC got a lead, they were able to run the ball with Warren and Goodspeed and run the clock out. Tonight, Rowell the QB royally 17 up the handoff to the FB inside the 10 and allowed NWR to get the ball back, NWR hits a bomb and eventually gets the go ahead TD. But against Clinton, Tobias and Price were also essentially non-factors as well. Actually probably even moreso than tonight.
I think that Hall is sometimes afraid to throw even screen passes with this QB, and that despite the fact that it's a Dandy Dozen WR and a D-I signee in Price that would be catching the ball. That's why Hall will put Tobias in the wildcat for basically an entire series some times- because when Rowell struggles it's REAL BAD. And really risky. Of course, the problem with Tobias in the wildcat is everyone in the stadium knows what's going to happen, and more often than not, it doesn't work.
My only thing is I have to assume that Rowell is the best QB that they have, because they do not play anyone else. Otherwise, I would be tempted to try someone else. But, I haven't seen the back-ups, so they could very well be worse.
Could be rough for MC in the near future. Hall is already trying to sell people on the "It took us a long time to recover from Ridgeland breaking off from MC" line. Of course, if the rumors are true, he won't be around anyway, and I doubt he knows that despite the fact that I'm sure he has heard the rumors.
