The Cougars might be a real contender in a couple of years when that QB is a senior.

Never mind - the CL says they had to win by 12. They finish third I guess even behind Clinton.

Crazy game. NWR had 4th down and they threw the ball up for grabs. MC DB tips the ball and it fall right into a WR's lap for a catch.

That gave NWR a first and goal and they won on a fade pattern a few plays later.

MC's QB has killed them all year. He has a TON of trouble running the option- you name it- making reads, letting the FB take it, keeping it, pitching it, etc. He went to St. Andrew's, so he probably thinks too much. Just finally came back to haunt them. He's a train wreck.

Also, NWR completely won the LOS on both sides of the ball.

Joe Price had a pretty good game- lots of big runs and scored a TD. Tobias Singleton, not so much. I don't know what their stats were, so that may very well prove me wrong, but that was my impression from the stands. Tobias didn't look bad, but he didn't really have very many big plays. Part of the problem is MC's QB can barely get him the ball unless it's on a screen or a handoff. They miss Peyton Johnson A LOT.

So congrats to you.

MC waited to go heavy to Price and Singleton. It didn't seem like either one touched the ball nearly enough until they got behind in the 4th.

I was on the sidelines .....and NW Rankin ruled the LOS all night long, but the refs were horrible. The fullback pushed the quarterback into the endzone 2 times and every time they ran a sneak for a first down and the refs never called it. Also, NW rankin had a really long pass play where the receiver stepped out at about the 30 and the ref was watching it, but did not call it and he ended up at about the 10. Absolutely the worst refs i've seen in a high school football game in years.

That being said NW Rankin deserved to win that one hands down. That running back they had ran harder than most college backs. Dude never got stopped for fewer than 3-4 yards.

And I'm not sure that I have an answer for that other than I think it goes back to the QB not being able to get them the ball at times and the fullbacks for MC being typically pretty good. If you watched the MC/Clinton game earlier in the year, it was very similar to tonight except for the fact that when MC got a lead, they were able to run the ball with Warren and Goodspeed and run the clock out. Tonight, Rowell the QB royally 17 up the handoff to the FB inside the 10 and allowed NWR to get the ball back, NWR hits a bomb and eventually gets the go ahead TD. But against Clinton, Tobias and Price were also essentially non-factors as well. Actually probably even moreso than tonight.

I think that Hall is sometimes afraid to throw even screen passes with this QB, and that despite the fact that it's a Dandy Dozen WR and a D-I signee in Price that would be catching the ball. That's why Hall will put Tobias in the wildcat for basically an entire series some times- because when Rowell struggles it's REAL BAD. And really risky. Of course, the problem with Tobias in the wildcat is everyone in the stadium knows what's going to happen, and more often than not, it doesn't work.

My only thing is I have to assume that Rowell is the best QB that they have, because they do not play anyone else. Otherwise, I would be tempted to try someone else. But, I haven't seen the back-ups, so they could very well be worse.

Could be rough for MC in the near future. Hall is already trying to sell people on the "It took us a long time to recover from Ridgeland breaking off from MC" line. Of course, if the rumors are true, he won't be around anyway, and I doubt he knows that despite the fact that I'm sure he has heard the rumors.

That QB is Reed Humphries, Tyler Moores half brother and only a 10th grader. He and several Cougars have been making the trek to Vegas for games. Reed is just as promising in Baseball, keep an eye out for him as he matures.

for MSU in the UAB game.

I can't say that they put on a clinic, but I didn't think that they were that bad.

But I didn't see what you did, and I was further away. I wish I could have been on the opposite side of the field to see if their WR was in bounds on the last play. He probably was, I just wish I had a better view of it.

I didn't want to type this because I didn't want it to sound like sour grapes, but I kind of had a feeling that the last play might have been blown.

I wasn't sure if it was because of my bias- very similar to the Ole Miss announcers praying that the guy for Jacksonville State was out of bounds this year when he wasn't.

Plus, I really didn't have a good view of it, so I gave the benefit of the doubt to the officials.

That's really, really bad. I feel bad for Madison Central's players now.

From where I was sitting it was impossible to tell, but that's a terrible call. That said, it was clear that NWR was the better team. As others have said, they dominated both sides of the line. They were the better team tonight. I will say this. After seeing MC's defense tonight, I hope to hell they don't make it to the north state finals to face South Panola. SP would put 50 on them easily, and maybe more than that. </p>

Ennis Procter will be getting that forwarded to him quite frequently.

If he even has e-mail. He and Ron Polk are the two most technologically retarded people on the planet.

Everyone get your glasses on, the endzone is blue and the ball is brown, correct? Well explain to be what the black is under the nose of the ball while its still in the air? Also, don't forget the lj blowing the 4th and 1 on the goal line for nwr by forgetting it was 4th and 1 and saying it was 4th and goal leading to a turnouver on downs when it was clearly a first down. Also, don't forget the lj moving the ball to his spot and then they have to call for a measurement. You leave the ball where the player was down and then measure; you don't move the ball to you.

that ball is clearly on the ground. The "black" is the player's shadow, which is also on the ground.

There is absolutely no way that call can be construed as anything other than an incomplete pass.

game, that is a previous throw. The receiver was supposedly falling out of bounds (how about a game day stick or rock star zinfandel) on the final catch.
