Alexander Central @ Statesville

AC has another tough game against a solid defensive Statesville team.

Statesville 28
Alexander Central 14

Freedom @ Roberson

Freedom should win pretty easily again but it will be a little tougher than their first 3 opponents.

Freedom 41
Roberson 20

McDowell @ Avery

McDowell is coming off their early bye looking to build some momentum before conference play starts.

McDowell 48
Avery 20

North Gaston @ South Caldwell

This should be a close game. South needs a win here with tougher games ahead but North will have a few more athletes.

North Gaston 21
South Caldwell 14

St Stephens @ North Iredell

Saint has been a little better than many expected and should win again this week.

St Stephens 35
North Iredell 14

If Watauga plays Charlotte Catholic in the playoffs count me in as seeing that game

The Patriots got the win last night, which will have to be good enough, but they struggled. Every time they scored, they gave up a big play to the Rams who then scored less than a minute later. The exception was their last score, where they held twice. Now, Kobe Johnson, who I think is Freedom's best player, did not play last night. I asked a friend after the game and he told me he'd been sick as had a large number of Patriot players, so maybe that was part of why they didn't play as well as expected. Whatever the case, they had better be ready for ACR next week before their bye week with the big showdown with Watauga after that.

Freedom has always played Watauga tough. Very few times in the past 15 years has there been a blowout. Now back in the dat, freedom used to take us to the woodshed. As for last night's close win, sometimes you take a W and you dont look back.

Habich is top notch, and the new format may finally allow him to advance in the playoffs to a regional final or state championship, he seems to have rebuilt this year with few problems. I don't think we've beaten the Pioneers in about 10 years, so the game in three weeks will be a test of how far Adkins has taken our program. It will be high stakes, as the winner will almost certainly get a high seed in the playoffs. I'm not looking past ACR at all (that would be foolish) but I'm definitely excited about the coming conference matchup with Watauga.

ACR is starting to get it figured out and I would consider Freedom the underdog in that game
