Since all the teams are finished playing, let's get a quick season overview:
#1 Millbrook won the championship as expected. Cook MVP and Reed lead the squad to a 20-5 record. I thought they should have advanced to states but they didn't play well at end of season. Seems as if they did not play defense well. I saw the LC game and the girls were getting beat off the dribble and no help from teammates. From the top row I saw and heard the coach yell at some fans for coaching from the bleachers, that was very disrespectful, unprofessional and showed a lack of class. Believe it or not the fan or fans were correct and after the one lady left hell you started to get blown out, maybe you should ask her to be your asst because she knows what it takes to win a state championship and that's defense. Overall another 20 win season and the bright side is you have another group of stud players comming in next year that may take the program back to the state tournament.
#2 Sherando. Wow what a year. No one expected a good season and the ladies stepped up and won a Christmas tournament and beat some team they shouldn't have as well as give Millbrook a game. The future is bright for the program, Coach you did a hell of a job keep up the good work. You got a few players coming over the next few years so keep it rolling. Firecracker Reed is no longer a thought at SHS good gutsy move by AD. You got the last laugh.
#3 James Wood. Not to good, they under achieved. The young inexperience coaching showed because the talent was their. Losing Brooks to injuries didn't help much either. The core players didn't bring it every night and for some reason the coach did not use her big post players. Well another year at the bottom, why should we expect more....
#4 Handley due to lack of leadership from top to bottom this team fails yearly. I've been saying it for years change is needed. They have two solid players and two role players and the rest are below average players. We are city people I know there are girls on the north side of town that can play but they don't come out. Another losing season.
#5 skyline they stepped up at the end of the year but could be #4 but my judges I hate seeing them on the bottom. The Clifton girl improved and carried the team, she is going to a good one very physical. The young players step up this team will be at the top next year but the Millbrook young guns will not let you take the top spot.
Great season ladies thanks for an enjoyable year. Stay tuned the Baller has an end of the year poem he is brewing up.
