How many of you were like me after we went up 21-0 and knew the game would be like it turned out?
I was hopeful that we would keep pouring it on and get an easy win and rest some guys but knew what was coming. Sad when a 21 point lead at home is not safe vs a 5-5 team.

How can anyone say it was not a first down when the ball was being carried and not put on the ground as am mark? It is purely a judgment call and not able to overturn the original call.
I was cautious but really felt like our team was on the verge of blowing them out. Then after we went up 21-0 early in the second the wheels came off and I was once again cussing our defense. In the second half when TCU went down the field to make it 21-17 I was like "Crap here we go again - can we just have one game where as fans we can relax and enjoy the game". I felt as if the momentum had completely swung but that and the JH pick 6 would be the golden highlight for TCU the rest of the way. Our D once again came through protecting a JH turnover machine show lead. This now makes 2 weeks in a row that JH mistakes have really hurt this team.
Had OU lost tonight in my opinion it would have been on Hurts failure to protect the ball and his very questionable pass that turned into that pick 6. I admit I cussed him under my breath and found myself also questioning Riley's play calling in the second quarter. I am just a lifelong fan that wants to see OU win but at the same time it is really aggrivating to see the mistakes being made in a game that should have been a blowout.

5 of TCU's 6 losses were by a touchdown or less, with only a 49-24 loss at Ames to Iowa State the lone blowout. They were, as I suspected before the game, a dangerous opponent.
I would have put the blame where it belongs: on Riley. Hurts was having an off night so you simply don’t have him throw it in the red zone. The DB made a great break on that slant, but it should have never been called.
Here’s how BONE-HEADED of a call that slant call was:
* your O production is 3 to 1 run vs pass that night
* Hurts is not just a “bit off” on the long balls - he was badly behind Lamb on that earlier end zone short post route (basically another slant)
* you’re up 11 and worst case of running it 3 times does not get the TD, u have a kicker who has not missed all year long to make it a 14 point game. And u want to kill clock.
But noooo - ignore all of the above and let’s pass it 2 out of 3 times with 1st down at TCU’s 12. F’n stupid. Period.
A 14 point win and we’re getting serious playoff hype because Ducks, also facing a .500 team, went down and UGA struggled again. Instead the narrative is OU is just scraping by these last 3 weeks. All thanks to crap red zone play calling.
...and therein may lie much of our problem, CT...Under-rating our opponents...With our history, for this year, we must consider EVERY Team we play as a Foe to be reckoned with...That goes for Players AND Staff...There are No Gimmes for this team...Far too much inconsistency on both sides of the ball...Suiting up in the Crimson and Cream and taking the field with a 'We're Oklahoma!' Attitude no longer gets The 'W'!
Our flaws have been exposed, and we are easier to defend...IMO, Patterson did much better at half-time adjustments than OUr Coach...
It was called a first down on the field and stayed that way after going to the booth. Therefore, it was and still is a first down...
While it may not have been a first down, nothing in any replays show that he was stopped short, so the play stood as called.
The one replay that the commentators (and I assume the original poster) used to support their claims of being short, showed JH being stood up for fraction of a second, then he disappeared behind other players in the camera view.
You never saw when Jalen was down nor where he was when he went down.
While he may not have made the line, there was zero clear video evidence that he was down short of the line to gain.
The stats pretty much tell the story. We dont turn the ball over this is a blowout. In my mind Hurts left 21 points on the field...the INT & 2 overthrows to wide open receivers.
Solid post and I thought the same thing when we were in that situation. Up by 14 gives our team a security blanket at that point. The Hurts fumble really drove me up the wall because he just had no clue the defender was behind him. Even after watching that play again I am not sure it was a fumble but I also can't blame the replay crew for not overturning it considering we did not have a reverse angle to see if his knee was actually down before the ball got ripped out. Blaming it on Riley has a lot of merit if we had lost but it would have also gone on Hurts just as much. He has been playing really reckless as of late when it comes to protecting that ball.
Right now I think we have been lucky the last 3 weeks to come away with the wins and sooner or later I figure that luck is going to run out either against OSU or Baylor again in the B12CG. Sooner Magic and luck to me are 2 different animals.
Senior I actually think Riley made some great adjustments offensively by deciding to use what had been working in the first quarter. Run the dang ball and TCU really didn't do much to stop it outside of the dumb mistakes that cost OU at least 14 more second half points. Patterson had no answers to that as the game only stayed close due to those Hurts turnovers. Riley though is certianly guilty of going brain dead when he tried to change course and go with the pass that ended up in a pick 6. I now wish the TCU defender had intercepted the prior tipped ball as at least he wouldn't have returned it for a TD since he was on his way to the ground trying the secure it.
Outside of the first TCU drive in the second half the defense really controlled the TCU offense the rest of the way.
Looked like forward progress was first down and then Hurts was pushed back...seemed straight forward....nbd...
