They have two billionaires who give freely (Rane and Harbert), they also have Tim Cook, but he probably isn't involved much in athletics. Ole Miss has one billionaire*, Barksdale (I don't think he's overly in athletics) and we have one, Bishop* (I don't think he's overly involved in athletics).

I think chatGPT needs to research the Duff brothers.

Cohen the baseball coach was a weird experience but we also got him at a weird time in the context of where the sport was. His Kentucky teams could mash and then within a couple of years of him coming here, the dead bat era arrived. And then by 2015 it changed again with the tightened seams on the baseballs. Felt like it took him a year or two to adjust to some changes that were happening in the sport overall.

To be honest, I’m still not totally sure why he stepped away from baseball when he did. He was only 50 and just had his best team ever. And was clearly building toward more success, based on how good we continued to be for about 5 years after he stepped down.

I’ve been waiting for years for him to get sick of being AD (or get fired) and return to coaching somewhere.

I am 100% here for 2027 Missouri baseball coach John Cohen.
I'd be really surprised if he ever coaches baseball again. I think he knew that he just didn't want to do that any more when he wrangled for the AD job and I don't think he'll ever go back.

and JTL (Jones family from what was the Jones family, they sold out but are still filthy rich) and Murphy Oil, and the Waltons, and JB Hunt Trucking (Johnelle Hunt), and Warren Stephens, etc etc etc. The Walton's alone are estimated to be worth $450 BILLION
Waltons are not giving specifically to basketball NIL at this time, but for general U of Ark donations yes thats the list

You left out one other billionaire who is heavily into their NIL. Tricky Dicky...

Cohen is weird to me. One day/week/month he's good, the next not so much. I guess inconsistent would be a better word.

You can't argue with Auburn athletics. Its no coincidence baseball is the only good sport under Cohen. I have no direct evidence for this suggestion but I think he just may be coasting.

I'll always thank him for Leach & the baseball NC.
