We extended a guy for $70M that hasn't improved the program. Yes we got to a bowl game but thats more about schedule than improvement.

We're locked in for 4 more years of mediocrity before we can afford to fire him.

Whoever panicked and extended him due to PSU rumors needs to be held accountable.

Despite the money issue, I don't see NU staying with Rhule more than 2 more years if the status quo remains the status quo. This non-productive animal needs to be fed with large quantities of cash.

It's frustrating to realize that we're stuck with a coach who does not have the "it" factor. It's not something you can learn. You either have it, or you don't. Rhule is a subpar coach and always will be. If he proves me wrong, then great, but he won't.

It's now that time of year where you wonder if the best thing for the team long term is for them to fall flat on their face next year, so bad that the admin is forced to fire Rhule.

Not only does Matt NOT have the "it factor", he's the poster boy for "deer in the headlights with cotton-mouth syndrome". Brought on by any perceived pressure.

The smart move is to fire Matt Rhule and Troy Dumbass now. Trust me. We do it now or wait 1 or 2 years and be back to **** again. Leaders at UNL are the dumbest mother *******. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the internal network of Nebraska football is full of Iowa alumni.

It is going to be interesting to see how many players jump ship in the portal. How do THEY view the program. Do they feel they are developing? Do they see progress? Or do they see a clown show?
It's a full on 3 ring circus. How many clowns can we fit into that 1989 Reliant K?

How can you have hope when it’s the second straight season he has collapsed after going 5-1? And the portal is not going to be kind to us. There is no amount of NIL money that can overcome pathetic coaching.

I don't think it matters whether you wonder whether it will be good for the program or not. Pretty sure they are headed for a repeat face plant next year from the looks of it at this point.

His first season was 5-3 before losing 4 straight. So, there is definitely a pattern in all 3 seasons of collapse. A Big Boy program would have let Rhule go a few hours ago. NU is NOT a Big Boy program, apparently.

We’re never going to get a better coach or top notch coach. Too hard to recruit here. A coach will go to a top BIG school or SEC if he had any success here.

Cignetti had the opportunity to leave Indiana, but he stayed. Either way, I’d love to have a coach that other schools legitimately pursue.

Good coaches are staying for the right money. Vandy and Mizzou coaches are two more examples. There is no reason NU can't keep a good coach. The problem is they haven't found a good coach in decades.

It Texas Tech, Utah, Byu, Indiana, Georgia tech can be in a playoff hunt then Nebraska can as well. There is nothing holding Nebraska back except incompetence and greed. Those are almost impossible things to fix but still possible. If anything, NIL, transfer portal gives much more hope than 10 years ago. We had 1 recruiting class in the top 10 in the last 25+ years. We had no chance in the old model... there is at least hope we can buy a roster with a smart coach, or even buy a specific scheme. Easier to get a kid to leave home for 100k, especially if he will be a backup at bama or texas.

I was born in the mid 90s so I'm used to not having much hope for Nebraska football. Unfortunately 1994/1997 isn't something I can really remember. That said this loss against the Hawkeyes is pretty low even by my meager expectations . It was an *** kicking.

I'm not yet at the point where I've reached absolute apathy like I have for my Pirates in baseball. But I must admit between recent history, looking at next years schedule and seemingly being stuck with Rhule for the next several seasons it's hard to be optimistic about the future.

I hope I'm wrong in my assessment and would be happy to be proven as such. But I don't believe that I am.
