Temple coaching legend Matt learned the hard way. Hope Dylan fires his arse.

Why would he? Making 3 strong. Won’t have any competition as long as Matt is here. OR Did Matt and Dana decide his offense works better with TJ and cutting ties with Riola family? Just a thought

What I want:

Get 2 quality portal RBs, one good starter
Got new OL coach, bring power and development
Emphasize trenches in portal, need to change scheme and get a couple brawlers on DL
Get good DC who can develop players, and adjust mid game
Torn on our OC but maybe if our OL takes a leap like special teams did he’s a genius
Bring a power approach back to our school- drop the finesse, pro style offense. We need to get back to beating a team twice each time we play them

I dislike rhule but let’s hope he adjusts.

I was responding to the poster still grasping at the thought of him returning
I haven’t heard the fat lady sing yet but she’s definitely clearing her throat. He might not get the interest he thought he would get. Here’s an interesting potential situation. What if he enters the portal but doesn’t get the offer he wants? Do you let him come back?

They need to pick an offensive identity and recruit to that, not around a player. If Dylan fits what they want to run and wants to come back, I'd take him, otherwise move on.

He’s gone. We’ve made him a 7th round pick. He needs more exposure and success and he knows that. He will probably take a pay cut as a long term investment but who knows

We let EJ come back - so there is precedence. As much as I like Dylan - I like the thought of a more mobile QB. Also when setting the budget if Dylan and his financial commitment gone do we get 2-3 extra pieces that could have a huge impact? Will Geep bring anyone with him.

Here’s what we know: Dayton decommitted. Donovan was fired and his replacement was identified and queued up. Dylan was injured, giving us a look at TJ.

Dylan is probably gone, but maybe not. No announcement yet.

The order in which we found out about these events may not be the same order they actually happened behind the scenes. While I want to know what broke first, I may not. But there will be spin.

If DR comes back, it's because no one wanted him. If so, that sets the program back another couple of years. Time to move on.
Somebody will offer him a guaranteed starter + NIL package. The question is what quality of a team will do that. A CFP team? A Top 25 team? A decent P4 team? A lesser P4 team? Is he willing to compete for a job he may not win in order to go to someplace better?

But if he comes back, they will spin it.

I'd leave the light on for raiola (but there will be future sprinting involved), and the millard south qb too..

He won't get 3.5 million. Nico did't get the 4 mil he wanted and ended up on a train wreck UCLA team. I feel like we would get more value taking a competent transfer QB with a high completion percentage and mobility at half the price and using the money on RBs, DL, DT, etc. You get more value spreading money around.

Completely different. EJ had questions about the offense under Holgersen and once those questions were answered he was ready to return. EJ was also a guy that had worked his way to the top of the depth chart and was ready to have a breakout year as the starter. Raiola has been handed the starting job unopposed since day one.

Dylan's tape will show a guy that can throw the ball but has a lot of deficiencies that he needs to work on. Best thing he can do is find the best QB coach that will help him improve his decision-making and pocket presence. He will never be very mobile but he can learn to recognize pressure and be more decisive.

Crazy To say this because I think he was the best QB on the roster. But I think it's time to move on as well. I've always preferred a more mobile guy. I'd be fine moving on with TJ and whoever they portalled in.

There are reasons why DR may stay or more likely transfer, I put it at 80%. I've been analyzing the overall situation and do plan on having a real long post tomorrow explaining my reasoning. Since it's interesting to me, and probably boring as hell to others, the psychology of a DR and the Raiola clan play into the entire scenario. I think it will be interesting as hell.

I'm interested myself. I think the writing has been on the wall from the moment Dayton decommitted. After that we see the firing of Donnie. IMHO they don't make that call unless they have been told that Dylan is "exploring his options". That's fine but i cant be held hostage while you do that.

Imo the only scenario where they come back is if they don't have a guaranteed spot as a starter in at least a equal or better situation for equal or better money. They also don't come back IF TJ is on the roster and a true QB competition is in the works.

So for me I'd rather move on rather than cater to any of these stipulations. They are gonna likely "force" Dayton on whoever is taking Dylan. Ask for 3+ million a year and a gauranteed starting spot. If I'm Nebraska I'd tell them to take a hike "Niko style" if they showed back up with hat in hand asking to be back "N" on all fronts.

Alot of speculation on my behalf I know. I "liked" Dylan but I know his ceiling isn't as high at Nebraska currently. I think we are likely gonna struggle next year regardless. I say cut bait embrace whatever u TRULY wanted to do offensively. Thanks for all you have done for us but we haven't been able to win more than 7 games with you. Let's move on without u.

I am not sure why Dayton had anything to do with it. The kid was not good. His offers proved that and as far as I know he hasn’t signed anywhere. I think Nebraska threw him a bone hoping others schools may offer from getting attention. Just my opinion

You mean, other than the family's employment has been a caveat to having Dylan on the team? Forcing under-qualified family members into the program as a package deal with Dylan is kind of their thing, in case you haven't noticed.
