Tobias Smith is sitting out.
Gabe Jackson hurt his knee, we don't know the extent.
Nickoe Whitley hurt his knee again, we don't know the extent.
Nick Griffin has a torn ACL.
James Carmon appears to be progressing pretty slowly at LT, predictable.
Haven't read about anyone stepping up at DE yet. We are really sub-par at this position.

I'm not a big fan of spreading spring practice out this long. Too much stopping and starting. Hard to get a good rhythm and increases the chance of injury.

we need those guys up front knocking guys off the ball this fall. But just remember we'll get our 6-8 wins again this year and go to a bowl game. If we had a team that was ready to seriously contend for The West, and we had these injuries, then I might be a little more concerned about it.

Whether we are "picked" to win the west or not.. Losing all or some of these guys can easily subtract a win. If we stay healthy we have a real good chance at making a run at 9 wins in the regular season.

we will NOT beat LSU, Bama, or Arkansas.

So, you throw those out, and you have 6 "should wins" against Memphis, La Tech, UAB, Kentucky, UT-Martin, and the Bears.

so in order to get to 9 we'd HAVE TO beat AU, UGA, and SC ..... that'ssssss yeah, I don't know about that.

or last 50 years of watching MSU sports. I really don't blame you because I am usually pessimistic, but, yes, if we stay healthy and get a favorable ball bounce our way, 9 wins is reasonable with our consistent progression over the last 2 years on both sides of the ball to go along with an experienced offensive backfield. I tend to view AT Ark and vs Bama to be losses. Also I realize we haven't beaten LSU in a bazillion years but what has Mullen showed in the last 2 years that shows he is scared of them? We were a taller qb away from beating them at home in '09 and we had bad turnovers last year by inexperienced players playing their first TOUGH SEC road game. As long as Miles is their head coach they will be in last minute games, the ball bounces his way most of the time, but we could definitely steal one.

late March. While those will be our most difficult opportunities I'm not willing to count them as losses yet. Certainly 6-6 is a real possibility and 9-3 is probably optimistic, it's not insane to think we could do it IF we remain healthy, play up to our greatest potential and get a little luck. I could see us beating 1 of these 3 = Bama, Lsu, & Ark. I could also see us 2-1 against Aub, UGa, SC. I could also see us dropping 1 of the other 6. 8-4 = my pick and probably won't change, but I'm certainly not going to count any game as a sure loss in March with the potential we have returning.

Teams are not gonna dominate us at home with the current staff and administration. We have a chance at home against anybody. My worries now are DE, which i thought LB would be the biggest concern, but i think i was wrong. But our edge at home is very evident in the last 2 years.
