but I also received a lot of information from them unsolicited. I assumed it was because I was a National Merit Finalist, but it sounds like they do more than that. I think MSU is normal in this regard and Ole Miss abnormal. They definitely send out more mail than most schools.

It seems obvious, but if you really have a preference in what school your kid chooses, you should send the school your kids name and ask for information.

New thread, yay! For instate students, does it really matter? I know that it had nothing to do with my decision. Luckily my dad put zero pressure on me to go to UNC, because I probably would have as it was my second choice. My recruiter helped me get a full ride, but I was from way out of state. I don't recall ever talking to recruiters from UNC, or NC State or instate schools. Probably did, but it didn't factor into my decision. My visits and time on campuses is what got me to pick OM. That and the free ride.

It's no different than their athletic recruiting. Look up database of all 4-5* players and send offers. In this case look up all NMF or 30+ ACT and send them an offer.

May actually work in academics.

I think you can send your scores to 3 schools, but you can also select an option that lets schools get your scores. Beena while but I think that's how it worked when I took it.

I'm assuming the companies that do the ACT and SAT compile lists and sell them to universities willing to pay.

I didn't have a 30+ ACT and was sent an unsolicited offer. Same for most of the people I knew that went there from my high school. So there goes that theory...
