Likely due to the forum transition glitch. I was victimized.47 posts in 14 years.
Says the troll.Instant block. I don’t have the energy for this low IQ kinda of stuff. Good riddance, troll.
I encourage you to go look at Michigan state’s recruiting class rank year after year. Or Gonzaga. I’ll take coaching over talent any dayI’ve been very critical of Pope. I’m not going to pretend that I was ever on page with the hire in the first place. Our early season woes certainly confirmed my fears about Pope. But last year we had a pretty good offense and poor defense while this year we have a pretty good defense and p*ss-poor offense. If we can manage to put two and two together, he’ll have potential.
Today was a good win, I’m not going to sugarcoat it and say it was a great win. I hope that now that Lowe and JQ are playing we can see good season blossom from our early season woes. But we can’t ignore the elephant in the room: our recruiting woes. And as we’ve seen today with JQ being massive game changer, we-need-elite-players. Not a group of role players. Not middling mid-major guys. The elite. We don’t need a lot of them, but we need a couple to lead Pope’s teams if we want to get back where Kentucky belongs.
We need a smaller group of higher quality players, that’ll solve many of our frustrations with both too many role players and the incredibly frustrating rotation patterns.
If Pope can save this season, make it to the tournament, he obviously gets another year to turn things around. I think boosters will support that if he can show a turnaround. But if he can’t make the self-reflection necessary for his own personal and the staff’s problems to solve his greatest weakness, another year does nothing. I think he’s smart enough to realize that a smaller group of higher quality players is superior to amassing a large group of role players. I feel confident that he’ll make that necessary change in the offseason.
But I’m not even including the JMI hangups.
Pope has to put his foot down. I don’t care how he does it, but nothing will change with recruiting or the transfer portal without major changes to the JMI contract or how they present their terms potential players. We all know that that albatross is not going to go away. Surely Pope is well aware that he’ll be scapegoated if he cannot solve our recruiting woes. But he and his staff have to get changes in place. The fans can’t do it. He and and the boosters and the powers that be will be the ones to at the very least soften the blow of the JMI deal.
Did you see how much of a difference JQ made today? Look at Yaxel at Michigan. Think they’d be as good without him?I encourage you to go look at Michigan state’s recruiting class rank year after year. Or Gonzaga. I’ll take coaching over talent any day
Both of those players transferred from other schools. Why can’t pope get a JQ every year thru portal ?Did you see how much of a difference JQ made today? Look at Yaxel at Michigan. Think they’d be as good without him?
A lot of problems Pope has had and is having could be solved with just a couple of elite players. He and JMI have got to land them more frequently and without stipulations like being out for half the season.
bc the only reason jq was available was bc he's too young to get drafted so he had to come back, look at the last 7 transfer classes, none of them are as talented as jqBoth of those players transferred from other schools. Why can’t pope get a JQ every year thru portal ?
Especially when you consider Yaxel was a ZERO star high school recruit and we had a top portal class last year, I don’t think that poster realizes what an awful example Yaxel is for complaining about Pope’s high school recruiting. Yaxel was a zero star high school player, yet is probably a top 5 player in college this season…and YES I am sad we did not get Yaxel. He’s incredible. Both of those players transferred from other schools. Why can’t pope get a JQ every year thru portal ?
I’m with you in spirit, but I’ll take the best players over talent – especially in a one year scenario. But that’s just me. Others may equate most perceived talent or anticipated future NBA accomplishments with best player. To me the best college players are the ones having the biggest consistent impact on winning this season, particularly when it matters most, rather than projected draft pick position.I encourage you to go look at Michigan state’s recruiting class rank year after year. Or Gonzaga. I’ll take coaching over talent any day
That kind of been the problem the last two transfer portals. Had we managed to get a couple of Pope’s first picks, we’re probably a top 5 team right now and last season probably wouldn’t have been as streaky. We’re going after these top 10 transfer portal players but we’re not landing them despite having over $20 million to work with. Both of those players transferred from other schools. Why can’t pope get a JQ every year thru portal ?
It’s not trolling. It’s just laying out reality. Sorry that bursts your sunshine and rainbow bubble.Got to love it on RR when the day of our biggest win of the season so far AND the first time we have had healthy roster a TROLL would get on here complaining about something
Some of our fans don’t accept mediocrity. Sunshine pumpers like you and several others are why the program has been allowed to get in the shape it’s in. Yall bury your head in the sand and pretend that everything is fine. I’ve watched a large portion of this fanbase do it for 7+ years now. In those 7+ years we’ve never been realistic title contenders. That’s beyond unacceptable here. That is his MO. Go back and read any of his posts. Troll of the highest order.
They used to be entertaining at least. Now that trolling is 99% outsourced Russian bot farm trash, even the human trolls are so boring and predictable.Trolls = A dime a dozen
I’ve been fairly positive since the win. I’ve given Pope his props. Today was a good win. But simply pointing out that he needs to make some changes, even going as far as to suggest that I think he will make them going forward, makes me a troll.
Pointing out that he needs to go with a smaller, higher quality roster going forward? Which would solve fans’ frustrations with Pope’s substitution patterns and obviously make us a better team. Troll!
Suggesting that Pope should put his foot down and not allowed to be scapegoated by Mitch Barnhart and JMI’s stupidity? Troll! And this accusation doesn’t even make sense! I’m showing empathy for the guy but I guess poo-pooing Mitch Barnhart and the JMI contract is troll-worthy material too.
Guys thinking that Sweet 16 exits and 6th place finishes is good enough by Kentucky standards means you’re obviously not a troll. Jacka*sses defending the JMI nonsense is obviously not on anyone’s troll-radar.
Hell, I guess thinking that Mitch Barnhart being considered one of the worst AD’s in Kentucky basketball history is worthy of being labeled a troll!
I’ve made constructive criticisms. I’m not blindly bashing Pope. But apparently that’s not good enough. He won so obviously we should only sing praises. The man is making $5 million a year to coach Kentucky, he’s not your friend. He should be constantly looking for ways to improve himself, his staff, his players and the program. Stop being parasocial for a guy who doesn’t even know you exist.
He had a late start last season and no roster and this season he was in on two top 5 kids and JMI wording screwed the pooch. The goalposts are continually moved on PopeIt’s not trolling. It’s just laying out reality. Sorry that bursts your sunshine and rainbow bubble.
Recruiting has to get fixed. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. You aren’t winning a title living solely off the portal unless you’re bringing it numerous top end guys from the portal and Pope hasn’t shown he can do that. Next years team could have had two top 10 high school guys but JMI blew that. There were two other highly ranked guys that we were in tight on, even lead at one point as well, but they’re gone too.
Hurley started out 35-29 at UConn the first two years. I'll mark you down as another who would have fired him before he started winning Championships. BrilliantSome of our fans don’t accept mediocrity. Sunshine pumpers like you and several others are why the program has been allowed to get in the shape it’s in. Yall bury your head in the sand and pretend that everything is fine. I’ve watched a large portion of this fanbase do it for 7+ years now. When was the last time either of those teams won a title? It takes both. But the best team typically has the best players.I encourage you to go look at Michigan state’s recruiting class rank year after year. Or Gonzaga. I’ll take coaching over talent any day
I really liked Moreno and I’m glad he’s here but there’s atleast a dozen or more freshmen I can name off the top of my head that I’d take over him. Probably atleast a dozen more id take after looking at a list of freshmen. The freshman class this year is about as good as any of the last 15 years.I’d take Moreno over all but maybe a handful of freshman in the country this year.
1.) That guy left on his own.You and this standard bullcrap lol. It ain't the standard if it hasn't been done in eight years. And the last guy that pulled the standard off was ran out of town on a rail lol
I’d honestly love to be able to do that but that’s nearly impossible when it’s been almost 15 years since a title, the chances of one this year are next to none and the chances next year look even worse than that. Patience is at an alltime low. We’ve almost gone longer without a title now than we did between titles #7 and #8. That’s kinda mind blowing to think about. Enjoying just having a good season is fine for football but that just doesn’t work for basketball. We should enjoy the rest of the season. Forget about all the drama.
I’ll be happy when we win #9. That’s the only goal that matters here. Some here refuse to be happy about anything, ever. This team at full health is absolutely fine.
No, you’re just a loser who has lowered their standards to mediocrity.Im just not a spoiled baby my guy. Keep begging Bill Donovan and Hurley to come here and get your face slapped for the tenth time. Those are your standards LMAO
Just earlier you acted like the fans were crazy for “running the last guy out of town who pulled off those standards” but here you act like Pope should be given a bunch of time because the previous guy couldn’t get out of the first round for years. Pick a side.I am not. But you can't hold Mark Pope to a Championship or bust standard if your team has struggled to get out of the first round for years and you left him with an empty roster to begin with
His post wasn’t negative. No, but if EVERY post you make is negative, even after a hard fought win, then yes you stand out as a troll.
Your history tells on you.
We aren’t at full health. We may not ever be this entire year. Stop gaslighting. Some here refuse to be happy about anything, ever. This team at full health is absolutely fine.
Nope, that’s not true either. “Let the season play out“ is not what they’re saying. What they’re saying is shut up. If you pay close attention, you can see that there is a small handful of the same people who were very supportive of cow, and were constantly shouting down anyone who criticized him. Those same people rally together like the avengers and attack every single thread that shows the slightest bit of concern with what’s going on this season. They want to drown anyone who complains with personal attacks, calling them trolls and fake fans. It’s a coordinated effort because they are continuously congratulating each other, and it’s always the same people. They don’t want the season to play out. They want everyone to shut up.See, this is what I disagree with. No one is trying to lower the standards. They are saying let the season play out before crusifying the coach. Several factors have played into how the season has unfolded so far (including missteps by Pope) but to just trash the season, coaching staff, and players before the season is even completed is as bad for the program as the things you perceive to be a problem. And it is constantly in almost every thread, no matter the topic. This is what posters are having a problem with.
You may very well be right in the end. But your outlook has been noted. Very many times.
I honestly am not trying to criticize you, but maybe you do not realize how often you say the same thing.
There’s a deeper issue here. Until Congress steps in and fixes things, college basketball is currently literally the sub-NBA with free agency and no salary cap. That is a major problem.I’ve been very critical of Pope. I’m not going to pretend that I was ever on page with the hire in the first place. Our early season woes certainly confirmed my fears about Pope. But last year we had a pretty good offense and poor defense while this year we have a pretty good defense and p*ss-poor offense. Simple question for a simple troll....would 36-29 after two seasons be up to your standards lol? Because if not, you are firing Hurley after two seasons which makes you a fool. Answer the question, are you a hypocrite or a foolI really liked Moreno and I’m glad he’s here but there’s atleast a dozen or more freshmen I can name off the top of my head that I’d take over him. Probably atleast a dozen more id take after looking at a list of freshmen. The freshman class this year is about as good as any of the last 15 years.
1.) That guy left on his own.
2.) The heat that he did feel was because he stopped pulling off that UK standard the last 6-7 years he was here. His *** got more time than he deserved and should have been fired and not even allowed to willingly leave. That stupid contract is the only thing that saved him that embarrassment.
I’d honestly love to be able to do that but that’s nearly impossible when it’s been almost 15 years since a title, the chances of one this year are next to none and the chances next year look even worse than that. Btw, that argument doesn’t work now. You can absolutely turn a terrible or empty roster into a contender overnight now with the portal. Hell Cal did it in 2009 without even having the portal.
Don’t have to let the season play out to see that the recruiting is bad.See, this is what I disagree with. No one is trying to lower the standards. Oh yeah...JQ sucks....Don’t have to let the season play out to see that the recruiting is bad.
Kentucky is willing to spend the money but I still question if Pope is the right fit. Guess we’ll see of he can figure it out. There’s a deeper issue here. Until Congress steps in and fixes things, college basketball is currently literally the sub-NBA with free agency and no salary cap. That is a major problem.
As of right now Kentucky is no longer a dominant blue blood. A lot of people on this forum are having a hard time letting go and are going through the stages of grief in realizing that. In the current climate, players do not see the benefit of coming to Kentucky, unless the money is right and the playing time is right. That means teams with the right combination of coaching and money will have the best chance to land the best players.
Nobody here wants to admit that the name on the front of the uniform no longer has the magical attraction that it used to. Until people get through the denial and anger stages, you’re going to continue to see bickering, name-calling, and a general state of Civil War in this forum.
Who’s he pulling in next year? We’ve had two top guys we were locks for and now we’re probably not gonna getOh yeah...JQ sucks....
It seems to me that there are multiple threads saying the same thing. Then there are threads where the topic is completely not "JMI/Pope has to go/standards/can't recruit etc." Maybe people just get tired of nearly every thread being bombarded by the same rhetoric. And it is every single day. By this point every one knows their opinion on it. Saying it one thousand times just derails the board. I for one, would like to discuss the game, other games, anything other than the same thing over and over. And no, this does not make me one to "lower the standards" of UK basketball. It makes me a fan who wants to see how this season progresses. I do not throw in the towel at the first sign of adversity.Nope, that’s not true either. “Let the season play out“ is not what they’re saying. What they’re saying is shut up. If you pay close attention, you can see that there is a small handful of the same people who were very supportive of cow, and were constantly shouting down anyone who criticized him. Someone called me a troll the other day because I used the word clone at the end of my name. Well. I couldn't recover my old account since 2011. But I'm sure most of you guys remember me as Farsight. I lost all of my likes and posts47 posts in 14 years.
Don't have to make 50 threads to point that out. Or state it in other threads that are of a different topic. That is what is annoying. EVERYONE already knows OP's opinion on that.Don’t have to let the season play out to see that the recruiting is bad.
That’s the problem though, he hasn’t exactly killed it in the portal either. How many players did Kentucky miss out on last offseason? Had we gotten a couple of those, Kentucky isn’t struggling early this year.Recruiting is not like the old days before the portal, its good to get good players out of HS but with the portal, you still can be good without them.
