I know Matthew Wells has been a State lean for a while, but us dropping Ruff's offer makes me think Wells may have sealed the deal for sure with our staff. With Carr and Wells, and the safeties we signed in last years class, we have no use for Ruff.

Carr will be a WR. And a very good one. Him being a three-star is hogwash. Utter hogwash.

but the idea of dropping Ruff's offer has been floated for 2 months now so its more his indecision than any decision of Wells.

I haven't seen him personally, but I've just noticed that there have been a lot of people saying that he won't do much.

Said the following things about MSU commits:

Virges may end up at OG, and be all-sec. The guy is huge and either will play the nose in a 3-4 or move to OG and be really good, they kept talking about how big the guy was and how he looked like an OG/OT.

Love was the best DB on the MS squad and that included Wells. He was doing it all on instinct and was really good.

Wells looked ok at safety and they didn't see him at TB so they have no idea, but they both wouldn't be surprised to see him add 15-20 lbs and play OLB. I have no idea how good the guy is at TB, I've been told really good.

Eulls - Same guy saw him play MRA and thought he was terrible, thought it was two different players. He said Eulls could be best player from the MS squad if he plays like he did this past week at practice, great first step, size, he has all the skills.

Not impressed with any of the OL, but did say that he will believe it when he sees it, referring to Rea playing baseball instead of football. All of them are 2-3 years away from helping which is the norm for most HS OL.

As for uncommitted prospects, he echoed what everyone else has said about Martin, Bennett and Thompson, all three will start for at least two years for some SEC school, all three have a great skill set.

The interesting thing in talking to both guys is that this year's MS class is a great example of why OM/MSU have struggled to compete with other SEC programs. Its not the numbers as much as the positions. He said OM or MSU could have a championship caliber DL and only sign MS defensive lineman, but if you had to rely on MS for QB, WR, LB, TE, and for the most part OL, you would be screwed. Now this doesnt take into account Sanders/Johnson and Wells at RB, but the point was that every year you have one to two positions that are lacking. You take into account that OM and MSU will usually split a decent number of the recruits and the problems that both schools face becomes obvious.

By the way, they both said Griffin and Nick Parker are not SEC caliber RB's. Watching some of the game on Saturday, I would have to agree with them completely.

Wes Rea is not playing football. And that is all. He will be a great baseball player for Mississippi State.

thanks for sharing.

Parker looked incredibly slow. I was always a fan of his, but he looks like he would have to play fullback.

I was mostly in and out watching the game. Saw Eulls just miss a sack. Not enough to form a judgment.

Rea just doesn't like playing football, he does it because of friends and being 6'3" 300 lbs with pretty good mobility.

The reason the guy told me this is because he said that is because Rea will have to drop at least 40-50 lbs to get down to 260 in order to pitch. That just isn't easy for anyone, especially for someone that is 18 years old and is about to go to college.

Agreed, seem in play in person. Their QB just throws it up and he goes and gets it. Nice PR as well, fast, big strong-he could be playing for us right now. He's physically ready. Honestly you could get Balis after him and he could play just about any position on the field other than O and D line and QB-haven't seen him throw however. But he'll be a hell of a WR.

I feel the same about Parker. He's a great high school player. I just don't know where he's going to play on the next level. I don't think he has the speed to play tailback. That basically leaves fullback or linebacker, and he's not quite big enough for either of those yet. If he comes in and puts on 20-30 pounds, maybe he could do that. Apparently we may end up signing him, but I think he's going to be a project.

Honestly, I think we may be considering signing him because first we're going to miss on Wells and second we may be thinking about the future and keeping the connection with SP open, especially next year when Brassell is likely going to be a hot commodity.

Johnathan Broxton or CC Sabathia pitch.

I think Rea will be fine as far as his weight. He will probably always be at least in the 250-260 range, but I have seen several pitcher pitch successfully at that weight- and heavier. I also believe that he will be a relief pitcher/closer type anyway, so he will probably only be a 1-2 inning guy in college for the most part. On top of that Rea is actually a pretty decent hitter to, and I'm trying to get used to all of these dual position guys that Cohen is bringing in like Luke Bole and Daryl Norris, so he may even play first base or DH if he hits well enough. I think he's definately a draft prospect.

Chris Hughes, a possible MSU lean, can play either LB or Safety. Per Paul from BDJ, MSU is looking at him as a safety, therefore not having a need for Wells, Ruff, and Hughes

at around that weight and did quite well although he's probably the exception. Adam Larson, however, did not end up doing so well.

not because of his weight, but because of the fact that he had a lethal combination of being an ******* and a dumbass.

and we're already strong at DB. He could still come via CC or walkon. What \I've seen, he's better at flanker than at DB. One thing that hampered him towards the end was a screwed up hammy.

didn't want him to go to state and wait out to see what else breaks.
Think she's hoping UT or bama may make an offer-what I heard.

Basically, it came down he would nail down his commitment and we pulled the offer

Afraid now he may join the new coach at ICC
