4 middle aged men in cheap suits and black Sketchers came into The North Face store where I work today and tried to buy 125 $330 jackets for the Notre Dame football team and their bowl game at Yankee Stadium. Long story short we obviously had to call our corporate office to fulfill their order, not only because of the magnitude of inventory but because half of the order was going to be 3XL.
1) Notre Dame brass dresses like one of those kids who gets dropped off at prom by their mother without a date.
2) After further review, turns out schools can give close to $500 in gifts each to the football players for a reward and can spend close to another $500 on each athlete to accommodate them based on the bowl (in this case, a $330 coat for NYC at New Years qualifies). I was always under the impression only the bowl was allowed to give gifts. I would imagine now that we will give our Nike gear away (St. Jude's?) and the school will give them Adidas gear with the Liberty Bowl logo on it.
3) Who goes to an average size store and tries to buy 50 3XL jackets expecting us to have that on hand?
