Hold up!!! We have been the "same old MSU" since 1980!? I was not born at the time but did I seriously just almost witness us botch the snap into the endzone and let Bama jump on top of it?? You have got to be kidding me. With instant replay we may have very well lost that game. </p>

On aonther note, I watched the you tube highlites of the 1980 Ole Miss and Alabama game in the Memorial Stadium which was played in september of 80 and at the end you can clearly see people sitting in the bowl. It lookes like there are two sections still under constructions but the bowl was almost completed. Every else I have read said that the stadium was completed by the Alabama miss state game.

the things I remember were Major Ogilivie's catch to get them across the fifty on third and how stunned and still the Bama fans were after the game ended.

I was a Freshman at Millsaps, and I'd go over and watch the football games at Memorial...back then, ALL the big games were at Memorial. ?<div>

My mother, who is not a big sports fan, was there. She didn't attend another game until '96 when we beat them again to break that long streak. Ma is undefeated against the Tide. I may send her to the game on my ticket.

only real memory is standing on the sideline after the game with a pledge brother saying, "the Bear stood here". Ended up in the Infirmarythat night, but that's another story.

A friend and I were taking a CPA review course there. The course ended that Saturday morning. I remember the professor let us out a little early so we could catch the Alabama-MSU game on the radio. He wanted us to catch the beat down on MSU by Alabama. I listened to the game on the radio on the way home and wanted to turn around and go back to let him know how the beat down turned out.<div>
</div><div>I did attend the MSU-USM game which we lost 7-6 I think the weak before and we were in the new end zone seats.</div>

A friend from Grenada gave me his three tickets which were on the 6 yard line where it all went down.

He had taken his wife & son to the game the week before and witnessed the defeat by usm and said he was not going to Jackson to watch a blow out.

Hit the Recovery room after for beer and shots, somehow managed to get back home.

I was 30 years old. Great day.

...more like Green Bay (dad and step-mom season-ticket holders) or Saints (Swandawg69 is a fan).<div>
</div><div>My story about being a former Rebel fan. Was never a hard-core, flag-waving, in-your-face Hotty Toddy fan, but rooted for them through High School. Also had a couple of High School teammates on the team.</div><div>
</div><div>When I went to Millsaps, all the big games were at memorial so I got to meet all the fan bases. that year, Ole Miss was playing Alabama the week after they whipped Memphis State 61-7. Anyhoo, a bunch of OM students were staying at Ezelle Hall with their buddies and they were all talking HUGE smack on Friday night- about how Ole Miss was back to being a National Power, how Steve Sloan was going to kick Bear Bryant's ***, how they were heading to Sugar Bowl, etc. etc. etc.</div><div>
</div><div>The next day, I headed over to the game. On the Millsaps golf course (where the school used to charge for parking....it's a practice field and tennis courts now), I walked by an RV tailgate where they had a huge confederate flag flying on a tall pole, with a 20 foot long table covered with white linen, and a black butler wearing a tan jacket serving guests with silverware. Then, I waited until halftime when the tickettakers left, and walked around. It was 96 degrees, and all the guys were wearing dark blue blazers and the girls wearing Sunday dresses (with makeup running down their faces). The smell of whiskey was VERY strong, and most all of them were fall-down, slobbering drunk. </div><div>
</div><div>I was surprised. I had always thought of Ole Miss as the Good ol Boy school....after all, they DID wave Confederate flags and had Country Boy Archie Manning as their hero.</div><div>
</div><div>by the end of the game, ALL the Rebel fans were pissed off. One asked me if I was a Bammer fan. He then said, "Take Steve Sloan back."</div><div>
</div><div>When I got back to Ezelle Hall, all the Rebel students had left and were nowhere to be found.</div><div>
</div><div>Maybe it was a good thing I wasn't a Freshman in 1983, or 1990, or 2003.</div>
