Looking at tiebreakers, State and ole miss lose any 3 way tie scenario thanks to Vandy. However, there is one very possible situation: a 4 way tie going into the last game of the season.

Auburn beats ole miss, Alabama beats us. All 4 teams are 10-1 with a chance to win the West going into the day, with all 4 needing to cheer for the team they beat.

Even if the second game doesn't go a team's way, if they win, they are 11-1 with their only loss to the champ - very likely the second team in the playoffs.

Unless someone really ***** the bed, egg bowl decides a playoff spot, even with 1 loss.

I might be in the minority but the playoff isn't even on my radar. I just want us to win the West. Even if we have to do it with two losses. Whatever gets us a chance to win the conference is foremost in my mind. The playoff and all that is just icing on the cake.

That's why I'm not Mr. Happy-Let's-Hold-Hands-Yay-Mississippi about Ole Miss playing well. I want them to lose two before the Egg. And I'd like Bama to lose one or two more as well. Just win the West and then win in Atlanta. That's the dream season. After that, whatever happens is gravy.

Winning the west with 2 losses is NOT happening.

Assuming those 2 losses are Bama and ole miss, that would require:

ole miss and Alabama lose 3 games each, and beat us. This means losses to LSU and Arkansas. Also Auburn would nees to beat both of those teams but lose to UGA or USC.

Even if one of our losses is Ark or UK, we would need half of that to happen.

It will take 11-1 or better to win the west. Winning the west = winning the SEC = playoffs.

It may be easier to make the playoffs this year than to win the West.

I'm in you boat. I just want to get to Atlanta. One step at a time. Ole Miss losing helps us get to Atlanta.
