Even by UK fan standards, the last 5 years has been one of THE WORST stretches of UK football in the last 40 years!!!!!!!
Since 1974, UK football HAS NEVER GONE MORE THAN 4 YEARS without reaching at least 6 or more wins in a season until last year.
Last year was the 5th year in a row of not reaching at least 6 games. Let me repeat that.....

Since 1974, UK football HAS NEVER GONE MORE THAN 4 YEARS without reaching at least 6 or more wins in a season until last year.
Last year was the 5th year in a row of not reaching at least 6 games.

The Southern Miss game marked the beginning of YEAR 6 IN A ROW of not reaching at least 6 or more wins in a season. UK fans, despite the heartbreak, have always had some degree of hope for a year...in the not so distant future, that we would go bowling or at least field a competitive team. Our internal UK football clocks have been ticking and the alarms rang loud and clear last Saturday night. We are already one year overdue and heading toward year two, with very little hope for anything appreciably better in year three of OVERTIME.

That, my fellow Cats fans, is my diagnosis for the rage and hopelessness most of us are feeling days after this loss. I am left with only two more words to add to this lengthy analysis....

THANKS MITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To make matters worse, up until about 2003 or 2004, we had 1 cupcake a year instead of 3. (Well, this year, we only got 2).

And also, for the vast majority of UK's football history, we played fewer than 12 regular season.

So, consider- used to be, 11 games total, one cupcake. Now, 12 games, three cupcakes, more often than not.

With that said, let's hope that Saturday didn't ruin the season. It certainly reduced the margin for error, but 6 wins is not unattainable. It's less likely than it was before Saturday, but it's not impossible. It just means that we now have either sweep our swing games, or somehow upset one of our favored opponents, Unlikely, but not impossible.

Where or where did the sunshine pumpers go , oh where oh where will they be after an 0-2 start with MISS ST, UGA ,TENN,BAMS,UL still on schedule. If this team starts 0-3 The pumpers can go pimp themselves off and changes will need to be made from AD down! 0-3 start if that happens No way should Stoops remain! plus if he would have any dignity he would not take that buyout but just walk away!. PERIOD! MITCH IS A *****!!

I like your fire but stoops will be here until the end of 2017 unless we go 2-10.

Well if D line does not het fixxed we might just go 2-10. I do not for see many W's this year. I think a non bowl year pushes Stoops out. You do whatever it takes to Get Houstons head coach. Watever it takes!!

I seriously doubt Les Miles could win at UK, and he knows it, so no way he would ever accept the position. A better plan is to find a bright hungry successful up and coming HEAD COACH from a lesser conference and make him an offer he can't refuse.
It's a long shot, but if CMS can still get six wins this season I would give him more time to learn and build; but only if he replaces his DC.

KY's only got two routes in finding a HC. Someone like Tressel who is a big time winner but has a little stain and is older, but has the proven experience and can stabilize the program like Brooks did or find a younger coach like a Brohm who has proven HC experience in winning and developing his players, but is not a crazy hot name that an elite program will be hunting down very soon.

I really think Tressel would be a tremendous hire who would get this roster playing well very quickly.

Neal Brown could be a name if he gets it done at Troy but that is going to take several more years and he might not have a desire to come back to KY nor the fans having a strong desire after the struggles he had his first time around (man which were not his fault due to a bare roster to work with).

Isn't the buy out the same if we go 2-10, 4-8, etc? Honestly think stoops is here next year regardless what happens this year. Hell we could go 0-fer and it wouldn't matter.
It is but if he goes 2-10. There won't be a fan available in 2017

Yeah it hasn't been any fun expect for September to mid October of 2014-2015 and besides that it's been nothing but losing. Maybe next year but I don't know.

I wouldn't call myself a pumper, more of a realist. I now think Stoops is a lame duck waiting for his buyout to be tolerable. If we win less than 5 this year, I'd fire him at the end of the season, regardless of the buyout. Sometimes great coordinators just can't make the adjustment to HC. Mitch isn't going anywhere no matter how loud you howl.

It would be awesome to have a football forum and another forum for whining. The need for people to cry on a message board should be delineated from people who don't have the need and like to talk football.

Especially jauk11. Because he has no comeback besides telling the op to go be a fan somewhere else
This 100% all offseason I was telling him how terrible stoops was with in game/halftime adjustments, player development, and game preparation. And all he ever replied with was, this player is a 5.7 3 star. This player is a 5.9 4 star 3 years ago. We have big things coming this season according to rivals numerical ratings. And that never really answered my questions about stoops being a terrible coach. But he thought it did. That guy kills it. He's the most unrealistic of the unrealistic along with merriman.

$12 Million reasons Coach Stoops will be our coach until Dec. 2017.

The ONLY way he's let go is if a booster is willing to pay at least half of that.

Doubt it will happen, but the easiest solution would be for this staff to turn it around NOW!!

If we go 3-9 or 2-10 I think Stoops is gone. Mitch might be an A-hole but hes not stupid. Even he knows nobody would show up to games next year if Stoops was brought back after a 2 win season. Heck, fans might barely show up the rest of this year. Fans got Joker fired, they can get Stoops fired too.

Look, the UK hater pops his head it again. As soon as we win, he'll go silent again.
How do you know that?
It's been 6 seasons since we had a winning record.

I'm not crazy about his post either sometimes but we all hate losing.

And it's disgusting because we were 1 win away from back-to-back 6 win seasons in games where we had a big lead and blew it (UofL), couldn't stop a 4th and 7 (Florida), or just didnt show up (Vandy).
And at the same time we were outplayed by EKU, nearly gave up a big lead to ULL, and have been dismantled by UGA and UT.
The only thing consistent about Stoops tenure on the field is inconsistency. And constant inconsistency gets you 4-5 wins a season.

UK was out scored 34-0 after being up 35-10 to a conference USA team that has recruiting classes ranked in the 70s and 80s. With a first year coach. How is that football talk for you?

The amazing thing to remember is that the stretch of time between 1974 and present is that most of that time UK had ADs who many have categorized as men who were delinquent in their duties towards football. Yet, the level of success on the field was as good or better during those times.

Also, Barnhart's entire time has been during an era with 12 games per season. All prior ADs existed during the 11 game era.

I'll give him credit for finally getting the facilities upgraded, but the results on the field have not distinguished his years from the decades of "neglect" that preceded his arrival.

Buyouts are negotiable. If we go 2-10 or 3-9, Stoops might take less money to end the suffering.

Hopefully it never comes to that.

Its stating the obvious, but still better than the crybaby whining, dimwitted jokes, and snarky end of the season talk.

Well, that result sucked, but I am not writing off players or coach(es) just yet. I am rapidly losing faith in the latter, however, other than the offensive staff. I honestly think Eddie Gran might be our next HC if the wheels spin off, depending on how his unit performs (like the Titanic's band?) along the way. We really needed to sell out to stop the run when it became obvious Dawson was going to attrition, and I never really saw that happen.
