Now Parrish says he thinks

Sidney will eventually be cleared, in case anyone cares what he thinks...

"I think he'll be cleared in November or December.

I won't agree with it, of course.

But the NCAA doesn't want a lawsuit.

So I think the NCAA will ultimately clear him to avoid one."

That's what I've been saying all along. They're using stall tactics right now, because they basically want to encourage him to take another route. They want him to give up and go to Europe for the year so they don't have to deal with him.

If he stays though, they'll eventually clear him to avoid having to face legal actions, whether Sidney would have a case or not.

It's very similar to what they did with Powe. They delayed and delayed to try to get him to just give up and go to a Juco so they wouldn't have to deal with him. He refused to just go away, and they eventually had to let him in for lack of a reason to keep him out. They'll do the same with Sidney, and it'll probably happen mid-fall semester. I'm betting it'll be after the start of the season though, so Sidney will likely have to pay his own way for a few months, maybe even the first semester before being able to go on scholarship.

even if the Sidney's had no money at all, if he's truly a one and done guy, a semester of loans at MSU would be a drop in the bucket compared to what he'll get when he signs his first contract.

Honestly, if I were Sidney, I'd probably just go overseas for a year rather than deal with the NCAA messing around. His family is probably going to have to take a pay cut for him to spend a year at MSU anyway. I'd go check out European women for a year and come back for the next year's draft.

Surely that's not the Ole Miss fan in you talking. You're hoping he goes to Europe to play for a year then comes back for next years draft. According to his lawyer, Europe hasn't even been mentioned yet. His family can move back and rent an apartment for a year. The living expenses are much lower in Starkville, MS than in California. His pops can keep his close ties to Reebok (maybe get a little paycheck each month for "consulting").

No, my first option would obviously be college because college basketball would be a bigger deal to me, but if the NCAA was looking like it might hold me up and try to keep me from playing, I'd jump at the chance to go to Europe. I can only imagine going to Europe for a few months to make good money and chase women at the age of 18. I couldn't say that would be a bad option.

I know he's not going to go to Europe, but for me personally, going to Europe for a short stint would be quite a nice fall back plan.

Jennings was unable to pass the entrance exam to attend college at Arizona, even after multiple attempts, so he had no choice....
Sidney is going to state and will play in the SEC... sucks for the Rebels....

The NCAA is trying to get info from the Sidney's to come down hard on the money source(USC & UCLA). If they get nothing, then he has to be able to play in in the spring. The NCAA is really digging and hopes to bust USC so they can forget about Reggie Bush and the football program.

But consider his quotes about the experience.

"I've gotten paid on time once this year," Jennings said in an e-mail message. "They treat me like I'm a little kid. They don't see me as a man. If you get on a good team, you might not play a lot. Some nights you'll play a lot; some nights you won't play at all. That's just how it is."</p>"I don't see too many kids doing it," his e-mail message said. "It's tough man, I'll tell you that. It can break you."

I don't think the money source is necessarily USC or UCLA. I think it's Reebok or whatever shoe company is trying to line up his future deal, and that's where the problem is. If they determine that his family has been receiving loans or money based on his athletic abilities, they can say it takes away his amateur status.

That's the problem. It's not about NCAA violations. It's about determining whether or not they want to believe that Sidney can still claim amateur status. And I do think they're going to delay for a while, possibly into the season for a month or two, but I do agree that eventually they'll probably have to give up and let him play.

not being treated like stars who can do no wrong. Though I admit that probably doesn't sound appealing to them.

are they giving up the bank account info? If they don't the NCAA can stall forever.

But I don't care if he gets in or not. I've said from the start I'm not convinced he'll help you that much. But that's based almost entirely of reviews I've read of his performances, I have not seen him play firsthand. Hell, I'd be interested in seeing what he can do, so I won't be bothered at all if he is cleared. I'm a basketball fan, and if he does turn out as good as y'all think I'd like to see it.
