Now that the practice facility is under construction,

Where does a mojor overhaul of Dudy Noble stand on the "To Do" list? We're dangerously close to going from having a decent stadium to a rat hole, and something needs to be done (besides winning games).

bugging the **** out of some pro baseball alumni for commitments. I have to believe it's been ongoing for a while. You see the plan he works from. Quietly gather large donor commitments.

I think the announcement will come early 2010, with initiation of construction planned for June 1.

I know they are working on it now, and this not only involved DNF, but also Davis Wade (West side club level and suites in the end zone), The Hump (club seating in there), and improvements and upgrades all over the three major facilities, and the minor ones as well. I believe this is suppose to be released sometime this winter?

Don't expect to see any MAJOR upgrades such as expanded seating in the next 3 years..short of Cohen winning a National Championship
Basketball was priority 1, football luxury seating is next.
Other projects are already on the board we know of, including working with track and field - redoing the track.. and doing something with the stands which are not allowed to be used as of now so we cant host ANYTHING.
Golf has a 1.3mil project on the board for indoor facilities.
and pretty much every other sport too.

*edit* btw the current work at Dudy Noble ongoing is costing over half a mil and is tackling the most important concerns as of now..the actual FIELD, the bullpens, and the dugouts.
They are always trying to figure out what to do about all the broken seats in the grandstand..the company that made them is lonnng gone.

I don't see how football luxury seating can be more important than upgrading the dude when you consider what's been done to each place in the last 10 years.

if in the back of Byrne's mind he's waiting 2-3 years on baseball to let Cohen build this thing and when ticket demand is at an all time high, he pulls out the blueprints and puts in a new seating priority plan to take advantage of the demand for tickets while he builds a new park. I have a couple of chairbacks and would be....perturbed....if I had to re-up at what would definitely be a higher up front cost than I paid initially. That doesn't mean I wouldn't do it.

Can't say I would blame him if he did this however.

that a new park will ever be built.. we are far from being in that bad of a state..The Dude does need some updating though.
and..if a new park was ever built... I doubt he would ever follow the lt-legacy seating plans, selling a lifetime seat at a ONE time cost upfront.

an entirely new ballpark, but I bet when it's done, we won't recognize much of the current Dude.

Is it?
I dont have the numbers at hand but the way I view it is this.

Davis wade already has the structure in plac (100 and 200 levels) to be converted to premium seating.
While Dudy Noble would require new major new construction..and the addition of more general seating unless you going to build some skyboxes with no stands in the front.

Comparisons of price and profit and timetable to repay bonds (assuming financed thru bonds which will be repaid from profits over time period)
between the two stadiums. At Football you would have club level seats that are what $1250 BC donation now? and then 80 yards or so of luxury boxes also.

Compare that to say the addition of say 15 more suites and a club area.. with substantially lower prices from suites and club than football.

So you have football with more buyers and higher price in an existing enviroment that can be converted EASILY
or a major building project with less suites and less dues.

I would say that football has more demand for luxury seating and thus is "harder" to obtain.

I think luxury seating in all 3 major sports will be next. It will be next because that is a project where the future revenue pays for the project. And it will be in all 3 venues because it will pay for itself in all 3 venues. It won't just be at DWS.
