he didn't take our best defensive players and put them on offense.... and he remained committed to hiring/keeping/paying an outstanding defensive coordinator and let that person do work.

Do we even know if he can recruit? I want to see him without Newton before I judge whether he is good or not. To me he seems like the great OC, not so greatHC type.

We are certainly a more attractive job, even if we're #5 of 6 in the toughest division in college football.

That said, Stan Jones is the obvious choice.

Diaz wouldn't let him take all the best players for offense, and the two together would give us amazing swagger.

1. Petersen---- Ask again. Maybe now he sees that this is a winnable program.
2. Patterson---- Good defensive coach.
3. Whittingham--- Always had solid teams.
4. Malzahn--- is it worth the risk?
5. Leach---- If we can convince Manny to stay.

The common denominator with he top 3 is that they consistently win with 2* and 3* guys which is mainly what they would coach at MSU. I know they are playing against other teams with the same caliber players, but you get my point.

Chip Kelley--- WHY NOT??? We are in the SEC and may pay about as much. 2.5 million ?/
Gus Malzahn--- Good person, has proved he is a pretty damn good Offensive mind.
Mike Leach--- If we can convince him to leave Key West.

Oh well. Mullen era was fun while it lasted. He may go down as most popular coach ever at MSU.</p>

I would take a look at Brady Hoke before Leach, but any of those six would probably be fine.
