Seems we are getting a partial story here. Is he saying the people showing him hate on Twitter are doing that because he's not a Trump voter? Has he been vocal against Trump on his twitter before? Odd comment from Stackhouse and it seems slanted by the writer. I smell agendas. Really dumb comment also by Stackhouse if you want to block out hate on your twitter you just rustled up a giant hornets nest of twitter hate now.

If a white coach said that about Biden (or Obama - eek), he.....would.....be......fired. No questions asked.

People wonder why the double-standard exists. Well, it does because we allow it. Conservatives don't care enough, aren't bored enough or aren't vile enough to cancel people (though they are starting to do it more). Liberals are willing to do it at a moment's notice. When you threaten people's money, stuff happens.

I really want to understand what he mean there. He sounds really, really dumb. Being a NBA player doesn’t make you a good coach. Saying that is the equivalent to someone who got a math degree being able to teach algebra to 9th graders. There’s way more that goes into coaching than being a professional player.

And it’s not because they’re a bad team or have a bad coach. Thanks for clearing that up, Coach Stackhouse.
https://www.totalprosports.com/2021...ing-ability-bringing-diversity-to-vanderbilt/

He's playing the race card again, and essentially saying that the 75 million people who voted for Trump are racists. Once again, he, along with a LOT of others, is equivocating conservatism to racism. And speaking of diversity - probably something like 90% (just guessing) of the top college teams are black, while only 13% of the country is black. How 'bout a little diversity there, huh?

The criticism of the Stackhouse hire was not racial in any way.

Yea but I don't read his comments as being about race either. Just his political leanings and that he's getting hate online for it. Strange non-story here imo probably started by someone trying to get Stackhouse fired. Not fired for being black or an anti-Trumper but because his team's record has been atrocious. I don't think Vandy is all that bad though they just destroyed us two days ago and Scottie Pippen Jr. is a player any team in the country would take. He can play.

Assuming those quotes are true, what's he trying to say? If you voted for Trump, you can't criticize me?

He's absolutely insinuating that race is playing a part in the criticism. It can't be that he's just a bad basketball coach....there must be something more sinister at play.

He kinda half-way insinuates that but he also says the hate is because "your man got fired". Then he says he's been getting hate since day 1. " A lot of YOU hate everything we did when we came here". So it seems he's got issue with whoever this is speaking to him. So like I said it seems to also be an agenda here from the writer that wants him fired and is using all means possible to achieve that. Just a mess of a comment from Stackhouse that he shoulda passed over instead of making and it's some petty ******** from the writer too. Now all of us dumbs are gonna take this non-story and make it a national one. Gotta love social media and the internet in 2021. We'll make a national story outta something that shouldn't even make the toilet paper newspaper 20 years ago.

I agree that the statement was messy. I think you're giving him too much credit though. The mere mention of Trump makes his comments racist in nature. The guy supported Trump, therefore he's a racist, therefore he's been against us since day one because of the diversity we've brought here. It's all ugly race baiting. He should be better than that.

Have you done anything to better understand the context of the quotes you read in that first link? Look at DCD's link for some context to Stackhouse's comments.

Also, I understand that you are from a time when racism and discrimination were so widespread and ingrained that many people oftentimes didnt even realize they were being racist or discriminating. That doesnt mean you need to continue along that path. It is difficult to accurately self assess.

After the **** Vandy pulled this past football season, this doesn't surprise me. It's all about the social media likes.

Question 1: Are you sucking at your job?

If yes, question 2: Do you have a good reason for sucking at your job?

If no, question 3: Are you a Republican?

If yes, blame gays being allowed to marry. If no, blame Trump supporters.

Stackhouse went on a dumb tangential rant for sure. He didnt need to bring Trump and voters into the conversation to make his point.
At the same time, the link you provided is clearly not giving full honest context.

He didn't have a point. He sucks as a basketball coach - this is factual with almost two years of evidence to support it. When he's criticized, to call out the criticism as coming from a Trump supporter reeks of racism. Trump's got nothing to do with it. His color has got nothing to do with it.

If he had given an honest answer, like, "the transition to running a college program hasn't been as seamless as I expected it to be, but we have a lot of guys who understand the game and we're going to keep working and getting better," that would have been appropriate. That didn't happen here. Whether he perceived the question as fair or not (and when is the last time the media ever cared about being fair anyway?), he should have handled himself better than he did.

Wow. What a bizarre rant. Vandy basketball has really fallen on hard times with their past two hires. Stackhouse was a laughably bad hire from the get go, but I never would have imagined he would be that unhinged.

He sure does have a high opinion of himself. I doubt there are more than one million people that even know he’s the coach at Vandy.

Yeah, I agree the criticism he chose wasnt a good look.
I can imagine he(and others in his position) tire from all the media hot takes thru twitter, blogs, podcasts, radio shows, and tv clips. I totally understand him not wanting to deal with Goodman's opinion on most anything. But its a big leap to pull Trump supporters into the conversation as reason for his lack of success and the lack of support for his program, and big leaps are often criticized.

I would say he is ignorant versus outright racist, but call it what you want.

Congratulations on confirming what many have already suspected about you.

The first paragraph could apply to most any Vandy sports team in most any year.

"The Vanderbilt Commodores are not having a good season. The team is currently 5-10 on the year and in dead last in the Southeastern Conference."

Remove the 5-10 part and you have what it must feel like to be a Vandy fan. They deserve him

Your guess is atrociously wrong. What does "90% of the top college teams are black" even mean dude? You think 90% of all the teams in division 1 are 100% black? You think 90% of all the top players in division 1 are black? Either way you're way off on your numbers. Clean your post up before actually posting it and then we don't get glfer low-key calling you a racist and then 15 other white knights coming to defend your honor to post ridiculously atrocious made up stats.

If he doesn't like media hot takes, he needs to either grow some thicker skin, or find another line of work, because they're never going to end. In fact, he's made it worse on himself now.
