...take a peek at what looks like a truly great bad movie. And I'm warning you now.. it's not even close to being safe for work.

The more heavily a movie is promoted, the more its going to suck. Possible exceptions for Summer Blockbusters.

Anyway, this movie is getting pretty close to being over-promoted. At first I thought it looked good, but now I'm afraid it will royally suck.

Heavy promotion just before the premier, the last week or two, is exempt. If there's been little promotion before that, then more often than not it's a good movie and they're trying to maximize it's numbers for opening day. You don't waste a good movie by underpromoting it.

Subtle promotions leading up to mass promotion the last couple weeks is a good sign (ie, The Matrix or Avatar).

The exact same promotion blasted for a month or more is a bad sign (ie, one i wanted to see before i heard it was horrible: Take Me Home Tonight).

But i very rarely go to the movies anymore anyway. Three of the last four times, the sound didn't even work right. One actually had to be restarted 30 minutes in. My home sound system may be 15 years old now, but it's 5.1 surround and always works, i can drink beer or whiskey all i want, and i don't miss anything to piss.
