Why not? The Big 10 hasn't been good for NU (I think not playing in recruiting hotbeds is starting to make an impact). Also Mizzou and A&M got better once they moved into the SEC. OU to SEC has been discussed for a while.

Florida
Georgia
Alabama
Auburn
South Carolina

Pure Genius --- that's exactly what NU needs -- can't beat Illinois, but go to the SEC to play Alabama and LSU. Grasp at straws much?

Why would the SEC want Nebraska? Glory days are 20 years in rear view mirror and TV market isn't worth a full share.

Why did A&M and Mizzou get better going against the SEC when they were middling programs in the Big 12? In 2010 the Big 10 was lagging behind SEC, PAC 10, and even the Big 12 and was drifting toward second-tier status. NU's arrival helped the Big 10 as a whole by revitalizing interest in the conference (no one was watching Illinois vs Purdue, but people are tuning into Nebraska vs Purdue), but by itself NU has suffered. They no longer play games in talent-rich areas and have lost rivalry games, etc. Interestingly enough, when NU left the Big 12, Texas went into immediate decline. I truly do not believe this was an accident of fate.

NU is really a decent fit in the SEC. I think getting into the SEC, particularly if Oklahoma can be added, would help pull NU out of mediocrity.

SEC is looking East not West for any new members. TV's & therefore $$ are much greater in NC, VA, or MD than NE. Travel is less expensive for non-rev sports as well.
