Regardless of where you stand on the Erstad regime (and I have not been a big fan), let's all hope the baseball program is turning a long-awaited corner. Huskers enter the conference tournament as the Big Ten's hottest team and with a chance to make some noise in the postseason. It's nice to be excited about the program again.

We are in excellent shape to win this tournament and get locked into a regional. It's a good day to be a husker.

We were projected to make it even before we swept Indiana. Think the only way we get left out now is going 0-2

2-2 would drop our rpi into the mid 40s. You generally don't make it with th at rpi and 4-7 against the top 50. Make the final and skip the doubt

2 losses and our rpi jumps over 50. We have to win.

We are the team in this tournament nobody wants to play. We should make some noise. Hopefully we are playing on Sunday.

In the second instance, did you mean 0-2, maybe 1-2?

I put our RPI in the high 30s (37) if we go 2-2.
4-0 = Mid 20s (25)
3-1 = Low 30s (31)
2-2 = High 30 (37)
1-2 = Low 40s (41)
0-2 = Mid 40s (44)

Seems pretty close but I used the 0-2 going to 50 or so due to the low rpis involved. All 3 on our side of the bracket have higher rpis and indiana/msu are both over 80.

Losses will lose us at least 6 places probably more. We are at 37 now. It is pretty easy math

Throw in that wins won't help us much. Our last win over indiana gave us 3 spots.

We have to win. Period.

One thing to remember is that opponents RPI isn't a part of the math. It's their W/L record that counts - their win %.

Indiana, MSU and Maryland have mediocre RPIs but their record is a combined 92-60 (.607). This is way better than the average of our total opponent's record (.518).

Just playing Indiana, MSU and Maryland (win or lose) will raise our total opponent's record and boost our SOS which is a huge part of RPI.

Its their record and their opponents record. It goes two levels deep. If we beat louisville it would help us more than if we beat a team like bryant that basically has the same record. Using their current rpi is a rough estimate but it gets the point across. This tournament will knock us out of a regional if we 2 And q

I love Erstad as HC and hope our fans never run him off.

5-1 Mich St winner. Huskers play at 9AM tomorrow vs Indiana. Will need to win 5 straight games for Erstad to bring home his first hardware in his five years of being HC.

This must be pay back from Football and Basketball.
Yeah. I heard that was MSU baseballs rallying cry going into the game. Once again you are spot-on with your situational assessments

1 big inning killed us. Man that was tough to watch. Most of our guys were hitting the ball well but right at them. Lets hope the bats are a little hotter tomorrow morning.
