NU offer gives QB Jack Lausch a decision to make

If he succeeds at NU, with the easy transfer rules, he'll walk for ND after a season or two. Why take that risk and embarrassment?

My expectations are so low that I am ok with a single good season at NU. Because we are batting .333 in transfers so far.

Anyway, QB's transfer constantly any more. Don't like it, but it's the world in which we live.

Why take a risk that a player will succeed at NU? Really?

What's the burr under your saddle today? Whatever it may be, I responded with my observation. If you don't like it explain why I'm wrong.
It needs no explanation. If you really feel that way, you have no business calling yourself an NU fan.

Here are my bona fides, let's see yours: I have been a football season ticket holder since "93; in that time period I have missed only about 12 home games; I've attended away games at all the Big Ten venues except Maryland and Rutgers- some multiple times; I've also attended three bowl games.

I am an NU fan, and I bleed purple.

Besides venting your angry man spleen on this board, what to you do for NU sports?

Oh, wait... you need no explanation.

If you decline to pursue players because they might succeed and transfer out in the days of the portal, then you are resigning yourself to pursuing players who are unlikely to succeed.

And none of that negates the fact that you feel we shouldn’t even bother trying to recruit a good player out of fear that if he is any good he’ll transfer to ND. That’s a winning attitude if I ever saw one. Glad Barnett didn’t share your views when he recruited one young Pat Fitzgerald who was also desperately hoping for an ND scholarship offer. How pathetic.

Different rules at the time. This kid can learn how to play an at the college level his redshirt year. If he’s good he starts the next season and walks to ND after that year with no worry about sitting out a year.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Is your assholishness here more of what you claim is your Italian family give and take? I don't agree with the point being made by fcmchi, but HawkCat made a much more clear, convincing, and compelling argument against it than you have. And he was somehow able to do it without questioning someone's bona fides as a Wildcat fan.

No assholeness involved. If you share his same sentiment as an NU fan I would tell you to take your defeatist attitude and F off as well.

FCMHI has multiple season tix, attends all the games when in town, and travels to away games. He not only contributed money, but his time also. What do you do? You don’t go to games and you don’t have season tickets and you call yourself a devoted fan!

If you’re going to talk about Fitz like that, show him some F’ing respect.

He wasn’t desperate to go to ND and was thankfully disinterested after his visit there.

You’re establishing a new low here by denigrating Fitz. Get your facts straight and respect the TRUTH.

If you can't figure out whether I share said poster's sentiment, you apparently struggle with either reading comprehension or memory problems in addition to unselfaware assholishness. Sending my best as you apparently have a lot of issues to deal with. ;)

“Assholeness”, “Hot Italian enthusiasm”, “fandom”, who’s to say?

We can all agree that @HawkCat (judging by the handle, probably also an ******* 😂😂), expressed his opposing view far more effectively than “F off” and “absolutely ridiculous.” Much more fun to read.

The logic! The wit! The friendly disagreement.

Kids, be like HawkCat, except for the pathetic divided loyalties. What a loser!

You do remember that Fitz said that he left his ND visit early because he didn't like the way he was being treated in So. Bend. Unless he was lying, I'd think that there is no way he would coach at TSISB.

So other posters are finally starting to realize what I did years ago?

Corbi is a board bully. If you don’t agree with his elementary views about football, watch out - he’ll call you names and tell you to F off!

I have called him out on this a number of times. He normally reverts to that attitude when he intellectually has nothing to say. FCMCHI and I met during our law practices. We know civil discussion and argument. We also know that when name calling occurs or the use of invective occurs, it happens because a) the other side is incapable either intellectually or factually to counter the point or b) they know they are wrong.

I call Corbi out about being a fan or questioning others. It is really a stupid, simplistic argument he uses to puff himself up. In reality, he luvesin the Chicago area, does not have season tix, does not attend games, and sits at home and pontificates. I doubt he has the camera in the sky, but he can tell you everything by what he sees on television. He can spew his opinions and prognostications, but screw him if he challenges whether a person is a fan since he contributes nothing to the program.

Well this quickly devolved into one of the most hilarious and sanctimonious threads ever. Bravo, all.

PS — holding season tickets doesn’t make ridiculous positions any less ridiculous.

But Meredith lied to our coaches so he could go party with hot babes in Arizona! We should feel so betrayed.

Season tickets bestow any brains on anyone at all. If you were so smart, why would you sit and accept the misery which occurred this year? It was hard. Many did it. Corbi never did. However, he immediately goes into overdrive and attacks folks as not being fans which is a frank personal attack. Once he starts on this crap, he deserves all the invective hurled his way and more. I am just pointing out that he sits on his comfy couch at home offering nothing to the program just like the poster that some on this board hate.

And having bad opinions doesn't make anyone less of a fan or merit assholishness. If that were the case, there would be no fans on this board because it is chock full of ridiculous opinions.

It's amusing to see your sudden horror over sanctimony though. Don't like people trespassing on your territory, eh?

I become dismayed by a number of posters who claim to be fans demanding the best of the program but seem gleeful when we lose games, play badly, lose recruits, or want to see our players leave early through transfer or the draft. Conversely, Corbi appears to revel in our victories and suffer at our losses, all the while defending the academic standards, personal values, and competitive efforts of Northwestern.

There is a lot of bantering here, and I'm glad Lou/FLA allow most of it, but some of it - Jeez people....a) keep the personal insults and expletives to a minimum and b) try not to be so butt-hurt over what some other fan says about your comments or whatever. We root for one of the least successful programs in history. We don't have to agree with each other, but it makes no sense to chase someone away. I have a couple of people on ignore - one because their posts just drive me nuts, the other because the person insulted me a long time ago - I can't even remember what it was!
