Is NU a football-only offer? Would he be expected to quit baseball?
It’s unfair to say he has no football future. Very similar to Kafka, except that Lausch got to pass the ball in high school.
It is fair to say that Lausch is a good MLB prospect today, while he is not an NFL prospect today. (Very few are, of course, because the NFL enlists college to do their player development.
The Sun-Times player of the year article underplayed baseball (makes sense, due to the topic), so I didn’t realize that he’s on draft radars. But he is:
(Being a top ten Midwestern high schooler makes you a possibility in the first three-five rounds.)
That said, if he’s committed to playing college baseball, ND and NU play similar competition, though ND has a better track record of drafted guys.
