Back down to a #8 seed per Jerry Palm today, facing #9 VCU in Salt Lake City. 15 teams are on the bubble; we're not one of them.

... I prefer to wait until the dust settles and see what happens rather than project doom and gloom.

I'd prefer ... if they shoot in the high 30s from 3 and WIN ONE FRIGGIN' GAME!!

I just had to say that. Sorry.

The Crisis Clinic is on fire and floating over the falls. But everything is all right. Somehow I don't feel reassured yet...

Under your "lose out" scenario, there's a good chance that ILL would go into the BTT as the #8 seed, playing NU as the #9 seed, which means ILL would have a chance to beat NU for the third time. Yikes!
Despite any "Palm reading", I don't see us getting in if we lose out, and I feel we will lose out. Too many years of beatings, this abused child is cringing from the next blow

Hope your enthusiasm is not contagious.

Even if we do get in, I suspect there is a whole slew of us older fans who will need some kind of group therapy to be able to accept that it is real.

^^This^^

I met my wife long after 1995, so she doesn't quite know what she's getting into. She knows how devastated I am by the losses, but she's really going to be sick of me if NU is a tourney team.

Anyone who thinks that a team can get a bid by finishing its regular season wining ONLY TWO of it's final NINE games, one against the weakest team in its league, (2/9=.222 win percentage) -- with exactly ONE 'good' win for the season, which everyday looks less good given the badgers falling fortunes -- is deluding him/herself or smoking "something".
Iowa got in only winning 3 of its final 10 regular season games just a few years ago, and then lost in the opening round of the BTT decisively to us to make it 3 of their last 11 (and the loss to us was a BAD loss). I thought of that example off of the top of my head, so I am certain there are others. But feel free to keep sharing your opinion without having it align with actual facts-- sounds like YOU are the one who is smoking something.
