He tackled Shapen after a one-yard gain. I can understand taking your time to get off a player to burn time, but this guy climbed further up on him and wrapped his arms around his shoulder pads to hold him down. Should that be a penalty?
I thought the same thing. It was blatant. He tackled Shapen after a one-yard gain. I can understand taking your time to get off a player to burn time, but this guy climbed further up on him and wrapped his arms around his shoulder pads to hold him down. Should that be a penalty?
You sitting in on team meetings?Azz State was coached to do that. They were also coached to try to draw 15 yard penalties in the final minute to try to help win the game.

that is coached to get 15 yards late in the game, and it is what it isYou sitting in on team meetings?
They probably thought the game was over along with everybody else. Then, after the pass completion and during the run to the end zone, one of 'em almost got in the way. I think he was trying to get out of the way, but just wasn't all that agile. It can be defensive delay of game if it’s egregious enough, I guess the refs thought it was borderline at best.
I guess it's not like golf where a player calls a penalty on himself.that is coached to get 15 yards late in the game, and it is what it is
I’ve noticed this. It’s like he was moving towards Thompson as he got closer, instead of getting the 17 out of the way. They probably thought the game was over along with everybody else. Then, after the pass completion and during the run to the end zone, one of 'em almost got in the way. I think he was trying to get out of the way, but just wasn't all that agile.
Hopefully our guys are coached that way too. Pretty standard at all levels.Azz State was coached to do that. They were also coached to try to draw 15 yard penalties in the final minute to try to help win the game.
Or maybe some of them just have high football IQs?that is coached to get 15 yards late in the game, and it is what it is
That seemed relatively egregious to me. Not sure it cost a lot of time, but seemed like something that could have been a personal foul just for dropping himself on top of a downed QB.Officials will usually just stop the clock if a team is slow getting off the pile late in the game. I've very rarely seen a defensive delay of game called.
Except that we woul get flagged for it in a New York minute; probably the 15-yard variety.Hopefully our guys are coached that way too. Pretty standard at all levels.
