Nuno Borges moved past the #7 seed yesterday in the opening round. Nuno was up 2-1 and in the 4th set with Auger retired due to injury.

That kinda opens the bracket up for a few matches, as the 7 seed was the highest seeded player in that quartile of the draw. He’ll play an Aussie ranked around 100 in the world tomorrow. Then, most likely, the 25th seed. If he can get past both, he’d face 11th seeded Medvedev in the 4th round.

Nuno is currently ranked 46th in the world and #1 overall from Portugal. Would love to see him make a run.

Update. Beats the Aussie in 4 sets. Tougher than he hoped. Lost the first set in a tie break. Won the next 2 to go up… then found himself down a break and behind 4-1 in the 4th set before winning 5 straight to close it out 6-4.
Onward.
This is awesome. Hope Nuno keeps winning.

I just hope he doesn't say he's from "king of the south" when they interview him after the win**
