I saw an article a couple weeks ago that was breaking down the bear's schollie situation and the fact that they had gotten rid of 9? players this semester. The article stated that he would have to run off as many or more again next year to get to the 85. Won't this mean taking a big apr hit? Or do we still have the apr thing?

The Division I Committee on Academic Performance continues to examine
data produced by the Academic Progress Rate and has adjusted the
calculation over the years in response. Changes have included exceptions
for student-athletes in good academic standing who leave school early
to pursue a professional career, student-athletes who transfer to
another school while meeting minimum academic requirements and
student-athletes who return to graduate at a later date.

I knew there was something like that, and I don't believe they distinguish between players who were "cut" versus "kicked off". If you leave the school, but transfer somewhere in good academic standing, I believe it either doesn't count as much against the school or doesn't count at all. I don't know exactly how they tally it.

That's how Saban, Miles, Nutt, everyone else is going to get away with pulling cuts when necessary.

I've always said that cutting players is much worse than oversigning, but I would not be upset if my program was in good enough position to trim the fat. It's better than being under the limit and having to back fill slots by rewarding walk ons.

they are keeping the coaching staff up to date and I am pretty sure they are getting approval from the compliance department before they do anything. Ole Miss is ok here. That's my guess.
