Nutt's bat-****-crazy radar must be completely broken....

..After the Mustain family debacle you'd think he'd be able to spot the crazies. Apparently not. Clayton Moore's uncle (i.e. his manager/handler) has been on The Spirit "explaining" the whole situation with Clayton and Ole Miss. I'd simply copy/paste it here but they're the type that might track down Dawgstudent and hassle him over it. A Xenomorph prediction: This situation will end in a train wreck. Complete and total.

Which is why he's coming as a walk on. If he and his entourage are too much trouble, he never gets a scholarship, and no harm is done. If he and his entourage want to straighten up and play right, he gives us another QB on the depth chart.

My only concern is if he becomes a locker room distraction, but if it looks like he's going to be a problem, hopefully they can get rid of him before he ends up on scholarship.

coach happened. He had to go through the public spectacle of being turned down by Syracuse and USM. He is a walk-on and may never get a scholarship. This is a far cry from hiring the kid's coach to get him to commit.

You guys have a great class. Why not focus on that instead of this nitpicking.

The one thing about his radar that does, however, seem to work is that in the 11 times he has played MSU teams he has managed a 10-1 record with an average score of 31-15.

He also remains the SEC's only coach with a losing bowl record.
Sorry, I couldn't pass this one up.

1. If Sherrill was still at MSU, Nutt would be one of two coaches with a losing record (2-4 in 13 years at MSU)
2. Seriously, a fan of a school that has been to one bowl in the last 8 years is focusing on Nutt's bowl record? At least he has a habit of getting his teams to the postseason.

An OM guy came over and made a crack on State... I responded.
My opinion of coaches doesn't change a lot with one really good or really bad season... I've never liked Nutt as a coach, and he's going to have to repeat this year a couple more times for me to buy in. Likewise, Tubbs is obviously a very good coach despite this sucky season. I'll look at the state of OM's program in a couple years and decide if I was wrong about Nutt. I would probably be drinking the kool-aid too if I were you though.</p>

not because he lost bowl games. Nutt has now coached 11 years in the SEC, and his teams have gone to bowl games in 9 of those 11 years. I'll take that.

I also think bowl record is an overrated stat. It's like trying to say Stoops sucks as a coach because he's 1-3 in national title games.

Gotta be honest. Eight bowl appearances in 10 years at Arkansas - with mostly Arkansas talent - and a Cotton Bowl his first year at a school that had won no more than 4 games the previous 4 years. There's no better publicity than drubbing a top ten team - though I thought Texas Tech was overated - on national television.

That plus a recommendation from Saban that he fill his vacant spot at LSU.

Not a bad resume in my opinion. He's not the recruiter Orgeron is, obviously, and 9 times out of 10, he's not going to get the guys that the scout and rivals "analysts" are drooling over. But he has made a career of signing solid players that can get into school and coaching them up.

Until he gives me a reason not to be excited, I don't have much of a choice but to be excited. Still curious to see how Mullen works out in his first head coaching position. He has done a good job stabilizing the class and adding some good pieces though.
