Funny how Boone will pull a starter at the first sign of trouble in 5th inning, but he'll leave a reliever in that is struggling big time. Weaver is shot. The knock on him was always that he was just a flash in the pan and I am beginning to believe that. He is terribly ineffective.

Bad loss. Wild card is up for grabs now.

Yanks looked completely disinterested last night.

Can't say I ever remember a Derick Jeter team taking a night off.

Is it me or is it possible for Jazz to be any more nonchalant in the field?

As I always say, there is reversion to the mean with these flash-in-the-pan guys that the Yanks think are long-term solutions.

Caballero was the one who botched that double-play

This pattern of Aaron Boone pulling the starter in the 5th inning and relying on the pen to pitch 4-5 innings is killing us. This has been a pattern of his for years and is why we are not a valid contender for the WS. Pen is below average and worn out. Boone needs to let these starters work out of 5th inning jams.

On another note I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to Joe Girardi. He has a unique sense of humor that keeps me laughing. But what I really like is how he explains the game technically as if he is coaching the viewer without being over bearing, and he very seldom brings up analytics. I find it very refreshing compared to David Cone spouting analytics in every sentence and won't shut up.

It feels like the Yankees should hold on to a WC berth. Unfortunately, all WC matchups are going to be really tough (Boston, Houston or Seattle). In a three-game series, Boston is really tough with Crochet in Game One. Houston is…well…Houston, and the playoffs against them scare the crap out of me. And Seattle is red hot. So nothing about the way we’ve played against decent teams makes me think we will even get out of the first round.

I agree. This team has sucked against teams that are over .500.

Houston doesn't scare me. Didn't they just lose a key player for the rest of the season?

Jazz Chisholm reminds me of Willie Mays Hayes, from the movie "Major League."

Same thin, lithe, body type. Same outsized personality and swagger. Same speed on the basepaths.

Except that Jazz has homerun power that Willie could only dream of.

100%. It amazed me how some people gloss over a 1.125 OPS. I understand that voter fatigue is a real thing and that judge is being compared to prior seasons (unfairly imo). But, still, the two advanced metrics that have supported recent MVP winners (Mike Trout is a great example) - WAR and OPS - both favor Judge by historic margins.

Raleigh has had a remarkable power season offensively. And, yes, he is a catcher. Last year, Bobby Witt was a SS (possibly the best defensive one in the AL), and Judge was rightly awarded the MVP…even though Witt’s offensive numbers were better than Raleigh’s this year. Except, of course, for home runs.

I want to give a hat tip to The Martian for last night. Hasn't been playing much but got the start and was ready to play and hit. The double in the 5 run innning capped by Grisham's 3-run dinger was a really key hit.

Kid is only 22 and has worlds of talent. He's not Mike Trout or Mickey Mantle and those kind of comparisons were very unfair. But he is immensely gifted. Power, speed, arm....he's still a 5-tool kid with a world of growth ahead of him. I liked Girardi's suggestion that he play winter ball and bat solely right-handed to get the reps he needs from the side of the plate to even up with his abilities as a lefty

Teams are not pitching around Cal like they do Judge. That is surprising to me.

He's going to have a hard time cracking this outfield lineup.

Don't get too excited but only 3 (4 due to tiebreaker) behind the Jays. Also the Sox are currently on the outside looking in.

Was nice to watch a game against the O's without having to listen their terrible announcers. Now we have to listen to them for 3 games plus end the season listening to the O's network instead of YES. Pure torture. lol

If Raleigh gets to 60 HRs, they'll give it to him. Judge is gonna get scrood.

Shoddy defense rears its ugly head again. Pen allows another run.

Grisham, Rice, McMahon, The Martian. These 4 not in the lineup. Come on, Boone! Enough with your analytics! How is that working out for you? We are in a pennant race with 9 games left! Play your best nine!!!!!!!!!!!! Geesh

And the reason I do not like Stanton. He has killed the Yankees of late. Ugliest swing in baseball. Missing pitches by 2 feet. Failing miserably in key spots. His 2-3 two week hot spurts during the season are not good enough for me. He is an albatross.

Man, these races are crazy. Houston and Detroit in free-fall. Indians and Mariners red-hot. Toronto coming back down to earth.

It's a shame I have to keep muting these games because Jim Palmer is such an a$$.

I did listen to Boog Powell when he joined them in the booth and it was quite funny.

I'm ready for the post season.

Good Lord, Jim Palmer, STFU you insufferable cry baby. The ball 4 pitch to Judge in the 10th inning was barely a foot off the ground. Palmer screamed out, "It's right down the middle!" Replay showed it was a foot below the strike box and Ben McDonald laughed at Palmer. Palmer then says it was a strike but called a ball because Judge's pants are pulled up to his knees. This is why I can't stand listening to the O's broadcasts and we have to finish up the season with Palmer whining and McDonald doing that monotone voice with constant babbling

And I love Ben Rice. Grand slam off a lefty pitcher. Boone normally pulls him in that situation. Way to go Ben!

That was an impressive win. The O’s starter (Bradish) was dominant and the Yankees still found a way to win. Huge day for Rice.

Great win. I love Rice. Palmer was a great pitcher but he is a disgusting announcer. I hate hearing him whine and cry about everything Yankees. He needs to ride off into the sunset.
