I like Goldschmidt and he is really hitting lefties well but I think long term it would be better if Rice was the every day first baseman. I realize Wells has really regressed / slumped at the plate but I don't like seeing Rice having to catch.

Rice's natural position is catcher, that's what he was in the minors. First base is a learning experience for him. Goldschmidt is just a one year player for the Yankees so next year things will be more concrete concerning catcher and first base.

Ben Rice is a ballplayer. He just has that look with how he plays the game.

Nice win tonight in St. Louis. Encouraging start from Gil. After the disastrous debut in Miami, Bednar has been really good in the Closer role.

Wells with a great frame job to get an important punchout for the 2nd out of the 9th. Bellinger made a couple of defensive gems at 1B and in LF.

And he has been the most unlucky hitter this year. He stings the ball quite a bit but right at fielders. Last week during a game I think David Cone said he was the top player in MLB for having hits taken away by above average defensive plays and barrelled up balls hit right at fielders at FIFTY. Wow!

It was funny the other night when he got a single and a bunch of players in the dugout was making finger signals at him and he was confused trying to figure out what they were doing. My wife said he looks like a little boy. lol I said well he's not very old.

The inability to hit with runners in scoring position is going to kill this team. They were lucky to win last night.
Shows you al the more that this team has to hit home runs to win. They are a terrible situational hitting team. I knew when Judge came up twice with the bases loaded and 2 on that he would not come through. Hit into a double play and a ground ball to the shortstop to at least plate 1 run.

Looks like Michael Kay has joined my camp again. He sounds just like me every night.

The Yankees suffered another tough loss Wednesday night, falling to the Minnesota Twins, 4–1, in what was their eighth lost in their last 12 games.

Arguably the most questionable move made by manager Aaron Boone in the loss was turning the ball over to Yerry De Los Santos in the sixth inning of a tie game. De Los Santos isn't one of the better relievers in New York's bullpen, yet Boone elected to bring him out in an important spot, and he paid the price.

De Los Santos didn't record an out, surrendering three runs before exiting the game, and the Yankees went on to lose.
On Thursday, Yankees announcer Michael Kay delivered a fiery rant about Boone's decision to go with De Los Santos, ripping into the manager for failing to adapt to the game situation and sticking too closely to a pre-determined plan.

"I don't know why they went to De Los Santos. Aaron explained it after the game, 'Well we felt it was a proper lane for him'–Stop! Who's your best pitcher? Who's the better pitcher that you can bring in? Every single pitcher in the bullpen was available last night? Who's your best? Who's your best to pitch the sixth inning?" ranted Kay on his ESPN radio show.
"People have to wake up. The season is slipping away. It's slipping away. You're tied in the loss column with the Cleveland Guardians. You're tied. And the Texas Rangers... they're breathing down you're neck," he said, before delivering a comical impression of Boone.

It's a fair assessment of the Yankees' recent woes. The team has effectively been in a prolonged slump since May, and Boone has failed to get the team out of it.

It's odd to hear Kay ripping Boone....makes you wonder if the Yankee/YES executives are putting him up to it?

I don't know, 92Heel. Michael Kay grew up in the Bronx and is as die hard a Yankees fan as there is and does a good job for YES not being a total homer. I have heard him repeatedly attack Cashman, Hal, and Boone on this radio show over the past several years and I am have been in agreement with most of what he says on this talk show and I'm glad he pulls no punches.

Back when the Yankees had an infield of ARod, Jeter, Cano and Teixeira I thought all four of those guys were going to the Hall of Fame. I was looking at their stats today. I did not remember that Cano was suspended for a season for PEDs. That was a great infield. Tex may still get in.

You are right, he is good at not being a homer....sometimes I do wonder if someone puts a little message out to say something. He is the best in the business for sure.

They should all be in the Hall. One of the best offensive infields in Yankees history, not too shabby on D either!

Once again Boone pulls the starter after 4 2/3 innings at the first sign of trouble. How are these pitchers ever going to build some stamina and confidence to advance past the 5th inning if he keeps yanking them? And then the pen has to go 4-5 innings and Boone is crying the next day about the pen being over worked. smh

Ned to take care of TB. They have been a thorn in our side for a long time.
