It pissed me off that Jazz couldn't put a ball in play. Typical of the Yankees all year and don't forget they left the bases loaded in a previous inning. McMahon swung at ball 4 that would have walked in a run. Comes with the territory. They depend on home runs to win and when they are not getting them they seldom do situational hitting. I turned it off after Weaver came in and he immediately got hammered and gave up a run.
All he needed was a moderate fly ball to center or right which any major leaguer should be able to do on demand. Just like they should be able to hit a ground ball to the proper side to move a runner over on demand.

Frustrating

Not much you can say about that loss. This team is so frustrating. Leiter continued the pattern of being the first pitcher out of the pen then giving up a run.

Volpe is just terrible in every form. Paul O'Neill clearly pointed out why Volpe can't hit. Opening up his hip big time while the pitch is on the way then dragging the bat through the zone. The Yankees have 2 batting coaches and they can't fix this? smh And as much as Yankees players, including Volpe, stare into an IPad during the game, they/he can't see this?

Did you hear Coney and O’Neill breakdown Williams?

Cone: MORE FASTBALLS!

O’Neill: when he gets to throwing the change-up pitch after pitch, it’s easy for the batter to spit on it

Yeah, why he hell can't Boone and the coaches address these things? That's why this team struggles. No fundamentals or common sense at all.

8 in a row to the Sox. George would’ve absolutely pulled the trigger
He would have gotten rid of half this team months ago and Boone years ago. He wanted to win, just like us Yankees fans. Yankees have a losing record against the AL East with only a winning record against the Rays.

As soon as I saw the lineup I almost decided to not watch the game. Wish I hadn't watched it. I watched it in it's entirety. I must be a glutton for punishment. The Yankees are struggling mightily. They are falling further and further behind the other teams. So Boone didn't have Rice or Jazz in the lineup because the Bosox are throwing a left hander. WTF? Boone and his damn analytics. These guys are pros being paid millions of dollars. You need your best 9 players on the field every day the rest of the season. **** these damn analytics. They are complete BS. And maybe they will start hitting pitchers if they are actually allowed to face them. Have the hitting coaches work wiht them every day. Just put your best 9 ON THE FIELD. No one is really hitting for average anymore anyway. Sick of this BS. And get Stanton out of the outfield!!! It's a disaster.

Judge is in the process of losing 100 points on his batting average.

Also in the process of losing the MVP.

He should still win the MVP.

I mentioned on the old thread when he was batting .400 he would finish around .320. Someone else said he would finish around .350. That would be nice but its not going to happen. I am worried about how he has started swinging at that low outside pitch again especially with 2 strikes on him.

Well, at least we avoided a sweep.

I am concerned about Judge. He is looking a bit lost at the plate. He may have fallen behind in the MVP race now, but it will come down to who does better down the stretch.

If Judge doesn't win the MVP it will be a travesty unless he just totally falls off the map the last month. Look at his numbers compared to anyone else, especially Cal Raleigh, who is just a home run hitter. I'm also surprised that pitchers don't pitch around Cal but keep feeding him fastballs. Judge is still far and away ahead of any contender in every category except home runs.

Judge is just a little off right now. I do think the IR visit along with the lingering concerns on the elbow are affecting him. But I fully expect him to get back into a groove. I'm not worried about him. This is really his first "slump" since the first month of last season. Even the very best have some ebbs.

And 2for is right....short of a complete collapse from Judge in September he is still the MVP. I expect he will have a strong September to close the season off right.

Pretty good night other than Leiter giving up the granny in the 9th when de los Santos couldn’t quite finish for Cam

Cam was a beast again tonight

Yankees better do somehting about this crappy bullpen. For too long now whatever reliever comes into the game either allows inherited runners to score or allows runs himself or both. Yankees brass better shape up and get the right pieces in place.

So true! I have zero faith in anyone in the Yankees bullpen. All of them suck to some degree.

I don't think I've ever seen Stanton this locked in for this long. I hope it continues, but I worry about how past history is with him going into a major funk after being on a tear. It's fun to watch hm right now. Now if we could just get Judge out of his funk and have these two bashing at the same time. That would be a sight to behold!

Currently I would much rather see Stanton at the plate then Judge.

Judge swung at a third strike last night that was about 2 foot out of the strike zone and almost on the ground. He couldn't have hit that with a golf ball retriever.

He's been doing that a lot lately after saying he corrected it. He's done it his whole career. However, the first few months of the season he rarely swung at that pitch.

Stanton may be the best player in the game since his return. Well, the best hitter in the game.
Stanton has always hit the ball hard but literally everything off his bat since starting the season late has been an absolute laser.

One of these days he is going to really hurt someone....or put a ball through a wall.

Best he has consistently swung the bat since his 58 (iirc) homer season

I still expect Judge to lock back in and then this team is cooking with crisco....if they can clean up the sloppy play

I still say the worst thing that could have happened to Volpe was the unexpected power last year, and quite frankly this year. His M.O. in the minors was a contact hitter that wasn't supposed to have much power.

His swing is way too big and because of that his timing is atrocious at the plate.

It's been fun watching the Yankees jacking home runs today, but it still concerns me the way they cannot put a ball in play with the bases loaded. Through 7 innings now they have had the bases loaded twice with no outs and failed to put a ball in play. Going forward this is really a big time concern. They have to be the worst team in the majors when they load the bases.

And speaking of Volpe, lakelaw, he made the final out twice in those 2 innings. Pulled a weak liner to 3rd base and struck out swinging at a ball in the dirt. He is lost at the plate. 1 for his last 37. That is abysmal. The Nats announcers are praising his defense.

Fried lost his no hitter in the 6th inning giving up three straight hits and losing his shutout as well. Was pulled after 7 only throwing 94 pitches. Good outing.

And this Blackburn dude the Yankees picked up after the Mets released him is just awful. Throwing batting practice again.

They had bases loaded twice last night and didn't get the runner in....it is a regular problem with them.

10 runs on 7n hits. Home runs continue to give the Yankees the bulk of their runs. Several times last night they didn't score with men in scoring position. Still need to work on that. Was really good to see Volpe's home run go to right center field. Maybe he is getting out of his pulling the ball slump now. Yanks back in 2nd place now 3 back of the Jays. Keep this train rolling!

Gotta keep beating these bad teams. The failure to get runners in without the HR is going to hurt against the better teams. But let's enjoy these wins!
