Time to replace the whole pen. We have plenty of decent pitching in the minors better than anything we have in the pen.Time to try Gil at closer.
The bullpen....the bullpen.....the bullpen. AWFUL. Bullpen has caused at least 2/3rds of the Yank's losses on the season.
I also LOVED how after each of the splitters Springer gave the "yeah, you got me with that one but it won't work again" head nod.Man, you could just see Bednar fighting every single pitch searching for something he could rely on.
He got through it but it was tough to watch. The 3 straight splitters to Springer from 3-0 to a K was something.
He's damn sure killed us through the years like Vlad, Devers, and Big Papi.I also LOVED how after each of the splitters Springer gave the "yeah, you got me with that one but it won't work again" head nod.
I can't believe he swung at all three of those.
That's not a great stretch....21-4 is ridiculous. You have to be good, but you have to have a lot of luck for a blistering stretch like that as wellI think the graphic I saw during last nights game said over the last 25 games the Rays are 21-4 and the Yankees are 15-10. That is great stretch for them for sure.
They may fall back to earth but they are a well put together team. I don't see them fading but no way they can keep that pace up. It will be a three team race between the Yankees and Rays and Blue Jays. Both of those teams have had our number for years now. I'm not real optimistic with this crappy bullpen we have. Boone has to let the starters get some stamina to go past 5 innings and stop pulling them out. No reason they can't throw 120 pitches. Use your eyes Boone! That's not a great stretch....21-4 is ridiculous. You have to be good, but you have to have a lot of luck for a blistering stretch like that as well
The Rays will fall back to Earth
Hard to give up on something that has a piece of your heart my friendI don't know what is more pathetic, Hal and Cashman, these over paid Yankees players that just go through the motions, the offense, the bullpen, or ME who watches these under achieving nothings every night.
If a Yankee starter exits the game with a one-run lead or a tie score, I just assume now the Yankees will lose the game.I know I keep harping on this but we have got to get some middle innings lock down relievers. Yankees lost 2-1. Bird allowed 2 inherited runners to score. Boone has also got to figure out his best choices for middle innings relief and stop using his metrics and pitches previously thrown.
And how many times over the past few years have the Yankees been completely dominated by a young pitcher they have never faced? It's crazy.
Sunday game in Milwaukee (2 weeks ago)....I was at that game....another one that the bullpen screwed up at the end. When was the last time Aaron Judge had a HR or RBI??
Sad, ain't it? It's come to be expected now.Sunday game in Milwaukee (2 weeks ago)....I was at that game....another one that the bullpen screwed up at the end.
