To their credit, the Yanks had been able to find some decent arms from discarded piles of dog **** over the last several years. But that will only work so often. And just like with casino's, the "house" is eventually going to win when you run that strategy too muchThe pen is what happens when you get get broken down pitchers no other teams wanted and you try to fix them and hope they work out.
And therein lies the problem, the Yankees got a few decent ones out of a pile and think they all are going to work out. Meanwhile some good arms are languishing away in the minors. To their credit, the Yanks had been able to find some decent arms from discarded piles of dog **** over the last several years. I'll be honest...I laughed out loud when they picked up Hill from the White Sox steaming pile of carcasses. And then when he was somewhat effective, I figured it would be a deal where there was something new that batters would pick up on / figure out sooner than later that he was doing. And therein lies the problem, the Yankees got a few decent ones out of a pile and think they all are going to work out. Hill is the only pitcher in the pen I would want on my team and that would be to face a few left handed batters in key situations. Doval, Bednar, and the rest are not that good. No consistency at all.
