Not shocked at all. She grossly underperformed this season. BAD defensively. Shooting/scoring below average. Passing terrible. She was very good at dipping passes, turning the over and in-general not making good decisions. I say all this to now say- I really liked Nyla. I thought she was going to be a stud this year. Just did happen.

Like you, I had very high hopes for her after that great sophomore year. Definitely didn’t happen though!

Maybe she had a love in her life before the season started and basketball became secondary..
That is crazy that you say that. I mentioned, several times, to my wife that I wondered if she was in a relationship and said relationship was taking priority.

Best news the Cards women's team has had this year. If only Cochran had did the same last season.

Coach Walz better start getting with the times and stop relying on players to improve after it's clear they're not going to. It was clear the returning front court was not going to be good enough and Walz couldn't or wouldn't bring players in that would challenge that.

The result was a team full of perimeter players and an ineffective front court and one of the most lackluster teams in the Walz era.

I think he is a wonderful coach that is having a hard time adjusting to the new environment.

lol our standards for this program are so high, I love it. These past 2 seasons will probably be the worst we see in a while. Good recruits coming in, and more room for players in the portal. Hopefully we can get a couple of transfers with some eligibility that would stay for more than a year. Honestly this has proven how good of a coach Walz is imo.

Last year I attended a season ticket holders Coach walz radio show. The crowd was asking questions about recruiting players during commercials. He alluded to a top player that wanted to come to Louisville but apparently another school offered her more money he could not match. There is more to the fortune of Louisville basketball than what Coach Walz is or in not doing in the way of recruiting.

No doubt. MANY players are making decisions based on getting paid

I agree that he has probably told the people that matter what he needs and the main donors just haven’t supported. I guess I am curious how far they are off. I can’t imagine they are that far behind others. Maybe if fans knew what needed to be raised they would be more willing.

The recent roster construction hasn’t been good. Does TCU, Kansas State, Duke UK or Oklahoma really have that much money than Louisville for women’s basketball? Oklahoma has something going on since the just landed the #1 player in the country.

Like baseball something is off. Not terrible by any means just off.

The NIL pot is just so big. Men's BB and FB are the revenue sports and it is logical that they will get the lion's share. Even with the success Walz has had, WBB is in the red.

It seems we are always a guard oriented team no bigs 6’3” is no longer a big in today’s game. Until we embrace the fact that if you want to have title aspirations you need quality bigs, size matters.

Quality bigs cost a lot just for that reason. We already know CJW is working with 700K less than uk. Probably similar to what we are behind to Notre Dame, UNC, Duke and NC State.
