We booked a tee time online at Magnolia Grove for today @ 4:00 for 22 dollars plus tax. It was gorgeous today and we didn't catch up to a group until 16 on The Falls, so we got in right at dusk. I don't know how long they are running this special, but if the course was as open as it was today, it has to be one of the best values in golf.

That is a deal. I will be living in the area in the near future so will have to see what is available then. How is the Azalea City public course these days? Played it years ago and thought it was pretty good for a public course.

Pretty sure all the Robert Trent Jones, with the exception of Ross Bridge and another "upscale" one near Mobile (I think it's Lakewood), had a $22 special this weekend. That doesn't include a cart, and by the time that's added it's not far off the regular price. Prices vary somewhat, but the normal weekend rate in Huntsville, with a Trail Card, is about $50 that includes the cart. It's low-$40s during the week. In the Shoals, it's slightly cheaper. Catch is, only those who live in Alabama can get a Trail Card, so what you paid is a pretty good rate for a non-resident especially if you walk. It's still not really golf season in north Alabama ... no green-up of Bermuda yet.

Buy a Trail Card when you get there. It costs about $40 and pays for itself in two rounds. And it's good at all the RTJ courses statewide. If you play a lot, you can buy an annual membership that's also good at all the courses, except Ross Bridge, but you get a substantial discount there.

They also have a deal where you get a card, and get it stamped each time you play. After 6 rounds you get a free round anywhere, including Ross Bridge. That's how we play RB a couple times a year, rather than paying over $100 to play there.

It included cart. After taxes it was 25 and change, we only expected to get in 12-14 holes, but like I said, we didn't catch up to another group until 16. The greens were solid but a little bumpy around the holes from foot traffic and the fairways were gorgeous. Dawg1976 we played Azalea City yesterday morning and it was in solid shape, $31 but it was packed.

Yes, I'm sure weekend play is pretty busy there. I'm retired so I skip the weekends and play during the week when it is less crowded. I will actually be living in Orange Beach but will be making it up to Mobile some, so thought I might play it.

That's an excellent price then. Was that the twilight rate? Were the fairways a rye overseed or has the Bermuda already greened up down there?

When you get down to Perdido, the Perdido Golf Club

is usually in good shape, very playable but challenging, great beer carts (girls), and good pace of play, unless the wind is blowing hard. A doctor from Meridian owns it. Great breakfast and burger also. Around 40 or 50... I think they have deals, and maybe a twilight rate.

You know Rocket I'm starting to think it was an anamoly

Checked today it was 82.00 for 4:00. The fairways were over seeded, the Bermuda is just a week or two away from being completely green.

I skipped a hole once at Perdido Golf Club due to an alligator on the green. Good course. Lost Key Plantation still my favorite in that area though.

Thanks for the info. I have never played it but have heard a lot about it. From their website, looks like they have some pretty good package deals. I wonder what doctor owns it? I'm from Meridian too.
